Foreword
The contents of Chapter 4, Chapter 5 and Appendix A to Appendix F of this
standard are mandatory, AND the rest are recommended.
This standard modifies and adopts ECE R95 “Uniform provisions regard to the
protection of the occupants in the event of a lateral collision” (including the 01
series supplements, 02 series supplements, and 02 series recommendations)
(English version).
The main technical differences between this standard and ECE R95 are.
- In view of the characteristics of Chinese human body parameters and the
characteristics of the vehicle, in the clause of Appendix B.5.5.1 Seat
adjustment, it makes reference to the contents of clause 18 of the
Japanese Security Standards. AND in this standard, it adds the
corresponding adjustment methods.
- In view of the actual situation of China that the produced M1 vehicle types
are mixed, in this standard, it adopts the EuroSID I dummy as specified in
Appendix E and the EuroSID II dummy as specified in Appendix F at the
same time, AND it is allowed to choose either dummy from the two during
test and assessment.
- Due to the difference between the Chinese standard system and the
European regulatory system, in this standard, it deletes such contents as
application for approval, approval procedure and approval marking, vehicle
type modification, product conformance, and product nonconformance, etc.
For the ease of use, this standard has also made the following editorial
changes as compared with ECE R95.
- CHANGE “this regulation” into “this standard”.
- ADD the information Appendix G.
In the Appendix G of this standard, it lists the list of clause number
comparisons between this standard and ECE R95.
The Appendix A, Appendix B, Appendix C, Appendix D, Appendix E, and
Appendix F of this standard are normative; AND the Appendix G is informative.
Suggestions on the date of implementation of this standard.
a) For newly finalized vehicles. from July 1, 2006 onwards.
b) For the vehicles types in production. 36 months from the date of
publication of this standard.
The protection of the occupants
in the event of a lateral collision
1 Scope
This standard specifies the requirements and test procedures for the lateral
impact of the vehicle, as well as the change of the vehicle type, the
three-dimensional H-point device, the moving deformation barrier, and the
lateral impact dummy.
This standard applies to the category M1 and N1 vehicles of which the distance
from the R point of the lowest seat to the floor does not exceed 700 mm when
the mass is the reference mass.
2 Normative references
The provisions in following documents become the provisions of this Standard
through reference in this Standard. For the dated references, the subsequent
amendments (excluding corrections) or revisions do not apply to this Standard;
however, parties who reach an agreement based on this Standard are
encouraged to study if the latest versions of these documents are applicable.
For undated references, the latest edition of the referenced document applies.

negative effect on the performance as specified in this standard;
3.1.2 The structure, dimensions, lines and materials of the side walls of the
passenger compartment – that have a negative effect on the performance
as specified in this standard;
3.1.3 The lines and inside dimensions of the passenger compartment and
the type of protective systems – that have a negative effect on the
performance as specified in this standard;
3.1.4 The position of the engine (front, rear and center);
3.1.5 The unladen mass that has a negative effect on the performance as
specified in this standard;
