Foreword
Clause 6 and Clause 8 of this Standard are mandatory. The rest are
recommendatory.
This Standard replaces GB 16807-1997 "Fire intumescent seals".
Compared with GB 16807-1997, the main changes in this Standard are as
follows.
- modified the classification method of structure type, from Type A, Type B,
Type C of the previous edition to Type A, Type B of this Standard (4.1 of
Edition 1997; 5.1 of this Edition);
- modified the requirements and test methods for "swelling performance"
(6.3, 7.3 of Edition 1997; 6.3, 7.3 of this Edition);
- added the requirements and test methods for "toxicity of smoke
generation", "smoke density", "air aging resistance", "cyclizing resistance
to freezing and thawing" (see 6.4, 6.5, 6.6, 6.10, 7.4, 7.5, 7.6, 7.10 of this
Edition);
- modified the performance requirements and test methods for "water
resistance", "acid resistance", "alkali resistance" (6.5.1, 6.5.2, 6.5.3 of
Edition 1997; 6.7, 6.8, 6.9, 7.7, 7.8, 7.9 of this Edition);
- modified "anti-smoking performance" to "fireproof sealing performance",
and improved corresponding performance requirements and test methods
(6.6, 7.8 of Edition 1997; 6.11, 7.11 of this Edition);
- deleted the requirements such as "initial expansion temperature", "bulk
expansion temperature", "linear expansion ratio", "high temperature
resistance and combustion performance", "physical and mechanical
properties" and test methods in the previous edition.
Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this Standard
may be the subject of patent rights. The issuing authority shall not be held
responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights.
This Standard was proposed by Ministry of Public Security of PRC.

Fire intumescent seals
1 Scope
This Standard specifies the terms and definitions, basic structure, classification,
code and model, specifications, requirements, test methods, inspection rules,
marks, packaging, transport and storage for fire intumescent seals.
This Standard is applicable to fire intumescent seals with fire sealing function
used for fire doors, fire windows, fire shutters, fire dampers, fire glass partitions
and other architectural components. The fire intumescent seals in vehicles,
boats, and aircraft can use as reference.
2 Normative references
The following standards contain the provisions which, through reference in this
Standard, constitute the provisions of this Standard. For dated references,
subsequent amendments (excluding corrections) or revisions do not apply to
this Standard. However, the parties who enter into agreement based on this
Standard are encouraged to investigate whether the latest versions of these
documents are applicable. For undated reference documents, the latest
versions apply to this Standard.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
6.8 Acid resistance
6.8.1 The intumescent components of fire intumescent seals shall be subject
to the acid resistance test according to 7.8. After the test, the fire intumescent
seals shall have no obvious dissolution, swelling, powdering, falling off, etc.
6.8.2 After the acid resistance test, the rate of change in the mass of fire
intumescent seals shall not exceed 5%.
6.8.3 The expansion ratio of the intumescent component after acid resistance
test shall not be less than the initial expansion rate .
6.9 Alkali resistance
6.9.1 Perform alkali resistance test according to the method specified in 7.9.
After the test, the fire intumescent seals shall have no obvious dissolution,
swelling, powdering, falling off, etc.
6.9.2 After the alkali resistance test, the mass change rate of the intumescent
component shall be no more than 5%.
6.9.3 The expansion ratio of the intumescent component after alkali
resistance test shall not be less than the initial expansion rate .
6.10 Freeze-thaw cycle resistance
6.10.1 Perform the freeze-thaw cycle resistance test according to the method
specified in 7.10. After the test, observe the intumescent component and press
the surface of the intumescent component with a glass rod, there shall be no
obvious powdering, shedding phenomenon.
6.10.2 The expansion ratio of the intumescent component after freeze-thaw
cycle resistance test shall not be less than the initial expansion rate .
6.11 Fire sealing performance
The fire intumescent seals for fire doors shall be installed on fire doors
according to the installation methods specified in their instructions on use.
Perform the test according to the method specified in 7.11. The fire-resisting
integrity of the fire intumescent seals used in the site shall meet the
requirements of GB 7633.
For fire intumescent seals used for other building components or for specific
purposes, the test shall be installed in such a way as to reflect their actual
applications. The test results shall meet the product standard requirements of
the corresponding building components.
water. After soaking, gently rinse with water and observe or dry. The test results
shall meet the corresponding requirements of 6.8.
7.9 Alkali resistance test
According to the method specified in 7.7, use 1% sodium hydroxide solution
instead of tap water for alkali resistance test. After soaking, gently rinse with
water and observe or dry. The test results shall meet the corresponding
requirements of 6.9.
7.10 Freeze-thaw cycle resistance test
7.10.1 Randomly extract fire intumescent seals and divide them into three
segments of specimens with length (100±5)mm. Perform 15 freeze-thaw cycle
tests according to the method specified in 6.4.12 of GB 14907-2002. Observe
the surface of the fire intumescent seals and press the surface of the e
intumescent component with a glass rod. At least two specimens shall meet the
requirements of 6.10.1.
7.10.2 Take one specimen that passes 7.10.1 test. Dry in an electric blast
drying oven at (60±5)°C for 24h. Place in the dryer and cool to room
temperature. Remove the decorative layer and other accessories of the
specimen. Determine expansion ratio of intumescent component according to
the method specified in 7.3.2.1. Take the average of three tests as the test result,
which shall meet the requirements of 6.10.2.
7.11 Fire sealing performance test
7.11.1 Fire doors for test shall use double fire doors with corresponding fire
rating. Its external dimensions are not less than (width 1200 × height
2100)mm. The thickness of door leaf is not more than 52mm. Before the test,
according to the instructions on use of fire intumescent seals, install the fire
intumescent seals on the fire door. And adjust the fire door so that the match
clearance between the door leaf and the upper door frame is (2.5±0.5)mm, the
fit clearance between the door leaves is (2.5±0.5) mm, and the matching gap
between other parts of the door leaf and the door frame is not more than 3.0mm.
Check the dimensions and geometric tolerances of the used parts of the fire
intumescent seals and the necessary hardware accessories, which shall meet
the corresponding product standard requirements. Appropriate measures shall
be taken in other sites that are not related to the use position of fire intumescent
seals to avoid the defects that affect the fireproof performance of fire
intumescent seals.
7.11.2 Install fire door on fireproof test furnace. After installation, the fire door
shall ensure that the flexibility of opening and closing and the opening force of
the door leaf meet the requirements of GB 12955-2008. Perform the fire test
according to the method specified in GB/T 7633. The fire-resistance integrity
