1 Scope
This Standard specifies the terms and definitions as well as marks, packaging
methods for marking and packing of yarn spun with pure cotton, pure chemical
fibre or blend.
This Standard is applicable to grey yarn spun with pure cotton, chemical fibre,
other pure fibre or blend.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions defined in GB/T
9994-2008 as well as the followings apply.
3.1 gross weight
the sum of the weight of the yarn and its packaging
3.2 net weight
the weight that the gross weight minus the weight of the packaging
5.4 Packaging specifications
5.4.1 Packaging specifications of cheese yarn
5.4.1.1 The packaging specifications of cheese yarn are divided into fixed
weight packaging and fixed number packaging.
5.4.1.2 The fixed-weight packaging of cheese yarn is divided into fixed-weight
packaged and fixed-weight boxed.
5.4.1.3 Fixed-weight packaged cheese yarn: Determined according to the net
weight at the regular moisture regain. The net weight of each package is 25kg
or 20kg. It can also be stipulated in agreement.
5.4.1.4 Fixed-weight boxed cheese yarn: Determined according to the net
weight at the regular moisture regain. The net weight of each box is in
accordance with the agreement.
5.4.1.5 Fixed-number packaged cheese yarn: According to the size of the
package and the size of the bobbin, the specified number of cheese yarns per
package is packed and weighed. The receipt and payment are conducted
based on the net weight converted at the regular moisture regain.
5.4.2 Packaging specifications of skein yarn
5.4.2.1 The packaging of skein yarn is divided into three types: small package,
medium package and large package.
5.4.2.2 The net weight of each small package is 5kg. Each small package is
divided into 100 single twists. For each single-strand, the nominal weight is 50g.
However, according to different linear density, it can be spun into 1/4-strand
weight 12.5g, 1/2-strand weight 25g, double-strand weight 100g, quadruple-
strand weight 200g, or other small strands with different weights. The volume
of small package is not more than 0.012m3. The size of each side is basically
controlled at 30.5cm in length and 23.5cm in width, higher than about 16cm in
height. The skein yarn shall be twisted by the horns, in orderly rows, into small
packages. If the conditions are not met, manual twisting can be used
temporarily. The skein yarns shall be neatly arranged and tied into small
packages.
5.4.2.3 Every 20 small packages form a medium package. The weight is 100kg.
The volume is not more than 0.22m3. The size of each side is basically
controlled at 97cm in length, 34cm in width and 68cm in height.
5.4.2.4 Every 40 small packages form a large package. The weight is 200kg.
5.4.2.5 The nominal weight of the skein yarn package is determined according
to the nominal linear density and the regular moisture regain. Its volume can be
