This Document was drafted as per the rules specified in GB/T 1.1-2020 Directives for Standardization – Part 1.Rules for the Structure and Drafting of Standardizing Documents. This Document is Part 6 of GB/T 5296 Instructions for Use of Products of Consumer Interest. GB/T 5296 consists of the following parts. --- Part 1.General Principles; --- Part 2.Household and Similar Electrical Appliances; --- Part 3.General Labelling for Cosmetics; --- Part 4.Textiles and Apparel; --- Part 5.Toys; --- Part 6.Furniture; --- Part 7.Sports Equipment. This Document replaced GB/T 5296.6-2004 Instructions for Use of Products of Consumer Interest - Part 6.Furniture. Compared with GB/T 5296.6-2004, the major technical changes of this Document are as follows besides the structural adjustments and editorial modifications. a) Add terms and definitions for “furniture” and “instruction for use” (see Clause 3 of this Edition); b) Add requirements for the compiling standardization of instruction for use (see 4.2 of this Edition); c) Change the description that instruction for use shall reflect the true attributes of furniture products (see 4.3 of this Edition; 3.2, 3.6, and 3.10 of the 2004 Edition); d) Delete the requirement for categorizing instruction for use (see 3.7 of the 2004 Edition); e) Delete the requirement for the publication date indicated in the instruction for use (see 3.9 of the 2004 Edition); f) Add requirements for the compiling accuracy of instruction for use (see 4.4 of this Edition); g) Change the requirements for prominent labeling of instruction for use (see 4.5 of this Edition; 3.11 of the 2004 Edition); h) Change the descriptions on relevant provisions of product name, product model or specification, material, structural feature, marking, dimension and weight, use, handling Instructions for Use of Products of Consumer Interest – Part 6.Furniture1 Scope
This Document specifies the general requirements, main content, format, and compiling requirements for instruction for use of the furniture products. This Document applies to the compilation of instruction for use of the furniture products.2 Normative References
The provisions in following documents become the essential provisions of this Document through reference in this Document. For the dated documents, only the versions with the dates indicated are applicable to this Document; for the undated documents, only the latest version (including all the amendments) is applicable to this Document. For the purposes of this Document, the following terms and definitions apply. 3.1 Furniture Appliances used in daily life, work, or social interactions that provide a place for people to sit, lie down, recline; or to divide and decorate space; or to support and store items. GB/T 28202-2020, 2.1] 3.2 Instruction for use Information that is provided by product manufacturers or service providers to users, containing all necessary information on how to use the product or service safely and effectively. 4.1 The delivery of furniture products shall include instruction for use. 4.2 The content and structure of the instruction for use shall meet the requirements of GB/T 5296.1. 4.3 The instruction for use shall accurately describe the true attributes of the furniture products. 4.4 The instruction for use shall guide users to use the products safely and correctly. 4.5 The instruction for use provided with the furniture products shall be placed in an easily identifiable location.5 Main Contents
5.1 Product name The name of the furniture product shall be provided. 5.2 Product model or specification The model or specification of the furniture product shall be provided. 5.3 Materials Information on the use conditions of main raw and auxiliary materials (such as basic materials, surface decoration materials, filling materials, etc.) of in the furniture product shall be provided, including but not limited to. --- Main name, characteristics, grade, place of origin, and location of use, etc.; --- Name, content, and limits of hazardous substances as required by GB 18584 shall be provided; --- Flame retardant rating of upholstered furniture and upholstered furniture components as required by Clause 8 of GB 17927-2024 shall be provided. 5.4 Structural characteristics Information on the overall structure, performance and parameters of main components and functional units related to the use of the furniture product shall be provided. 5.5 Labeling Inspection and certification labels shall be provided, which may include labels reflecting information on the quality, environmental protection, and recyclability of the furniture product. 5.6 Dimension and weight The following information shall be provided. overall dimensions, packaging dimensions, assembly dimensions, gross weight, and net weight of the furniture product. 5.7 Purpose The main purpose and applicable scope of the furniture product shall be provided. 5.8 Handling and storage The conditions for handling, transporting, and storing the furniture product shall be provided. 5.9 Unpacking and inspection The contents of the unpacking and inspection of the furniture product shall be provided. 5.10 Safety warnings Warnings and notices related to safety shall be provided.
