Foreword

This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009. This standard replaces GB/T 3142-1982 "Lubricant Bearing Capacity Measurement Method (Four Ball Method)". Compared with GB/T 3142-1982, this standard has the following technical changes as follows. ---The unit of measurement adopts the International System of Units. --- Added Chapter 2 normative references. --- Move the compensation line of the four ball machine of Figure 1 in GB/T 3142-1982 to Appendix B. --- Correct the expression error in GB/T 3142-1982, and change "5%" in 3.4 and 8.9 to "(1 5%)". --- 3.6 adds the expression of P in the formula and describes the lever type four-ball machine. A detailed description of the reagents is added to --5.1. --- 5.2 increases the requirements on the material and hardness of the test steel ball. --- Added a detailed description of the instrument in Chapter 6. --- Expand the load range of the four-ball machine to "59N~9810N".
