1 Scope

This document describes the Karl Fischer Coulometry method for the determination of water content in cathode materials for lithium-ion batteries. This document is applicable to the determination of water content in positive electrode materials such as lithium cobalt oxide (LCO), lithium nickel cobalt manganese oxide (NCM), lithium nickel cobalt aluminum oxide (NCA), lithium manganese oxide (LMO), lithium iron phosphate (LFP), and lithium ferromanganese phosphate (LMFP). The determination range is 0.0005%~0.5000%.

3 Terms and definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document. 3.1 dew point temperature The temperature at which the vapor pressure of water in a gas is equal to the saturated vapor pressure of water at a certain temperature.
