Foreword

This Standard is drafted in accordance with stipulations in GB/T 1.1-2009. This Standard adopts the re-drafting law for modification in accordance with ISO 23277. 2006 Non-destructive Testing of Welds - Penetrant Testing of Welds - Acceptance Levels. Please see the technical differences and the causes for these differences in comparison with ISO 23277.2006. ---In terms of normative references, this Standard makes certain adjustment with technical differences to get adapted to the Chinese technical conditions. The condition of such adjustment is intensively reflected in “Normative References” in Chapter 2. Please see the specific adjustment below.  GB/T 12604.3, which equivalently adopts international standard, is taken as a replacement of ISO 12706 (please refer to Chapter 3);  GB/T 18851.1, which equivalently adopts international standard, is taken as a replacement of ISO 3452 (please refer to Chapter 1, 4.4 and 5.2);  GB/T 18851.2, which equivalently adopts international standard, is taken as a replacement of ISO 3452.2 (please refer to 4.2);  GB/T 20737, which equivalently adopts international standard, is taken as a replacement of ISO/TS 18173 (please refer to Chapter 3);  ISO 5817 is deleted;  ISO 10042 is deleted;  ISO 17635 is deleted;  EN 1330-2 is deleted. 1 Scope

This Standard specifies the acceptance levels indicated in penetrant testing of metal welds with deficient surface opening. This Standard shall mainly be applied to manufacturing inspection. If it is considered as applicable, this Standard can also be applied to in-service inspection. In this Standard, the acceptance levels are based on the adoption of the method stipulated in GB/T 18851.1 and the attainable testing capability based on the parameters recommended in Appendix A. Acceptance levels are related with welding standards, adopted standards, technical conditions or laws and regulations. More information regarding the indicated acceptance levels can be inquired from product or application standards.
