Foreword

Full text of this Standard is mandatory. This Standard replaces GB 17324-1998 "Hygienic Standard of Bottled Purified Water for Drinking". Compared with GB 17324-1998, the main amendments are as follows. -- Change the text format of the standard according to GB/T 1.1-2000; -- Change the structure of the original standard; and add the hygienic requirements and the requirements of packaging, marking, storage and transportation of raw and supplemental materials and process of manufacture; -- Change the name of the standard into "Hygienic Standard of Bottled (Barreled) Purified Water for Drinking". Since the date of implementation of this Standard, GB 17324-1998 shall be abolished at the same time. Annex A of this Standard is normative. This Standard was proposed and shall be administered by the Ministry of Health of the People's Republic of China. Drafting organizations of this Standard. 1 Scope

This Standard specifies the definition, index requirements, hygienic requirements of manufacture process, packaging, marking, storage and transportation requirements as well as the test method of bottled (barreled) purified water for drinking. This Standard applies to bottled (barreled) purified water for drinking.

3 Terms and Definitions

For the purpose of this Standard, the following terms and definitions apply. 3.1 Bottled (Barreled) Purified Water for Drinking The water which is directly drinkable, containing no additives and sealed in a container, and which is made of the raw material of water up to the hygienic standard of drinking water, through electro-dialysis, ion exchange, reverse osmosis, distillation and other appropriate processing methods.

(Normative) Hygienic Guidelines of Bottled (Barreled) Purified Water for Drinking A.1 Purpose The Guidelines are made in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Food Hygiene Law of the People's Republic of China, in order to guide the production of bottled (barreled) purified water for drinking, so as to make it meet the food hygiene requirements and to ensure the health of the people. A.2 Scope of Application Bottled (barreled) purified water for drinking, i.e. the water which is directly drinkable, containing no additives and sealed in a container, and which is made of the raw material of water up to the hygienic standard of drinking water, through electro-dialysis, ion exchange, reverse osmosis, distillation and other appropriate processing methods. A.3 Guiding Principles Article 1 The design and layout of all manufacturing plants newly-built, expanded and rebuilt shall meet GB 14881 General Hygienic Regulation for Food Enterprises. Article 2 The water treatment plant shall be enclosed; the filling plant shall be enclosed and provided with an air cleaning unit to maintain the air cleanliness class up to 1000, and it shall use automatic filling equipment. Article 3 The equipment, pipes, tools, utensils and water storage facilities must be made of non-toxic, odorless, corrosion-resistant, easy-to-clean materials; the surface shall be smooth without pits, exfoliation, crack or blind end, which shall be not liable to scale but easy to clean and disinfect; and it shall be easy for the storage tank to discharge water, in order to avoid the formation of dead-water caused microbial contamination. Article 4 The packaging materials shall meet relevant national hygienic standards; the use of recycled bottles shall be prohibited (except barrels). Automatic equipment shall be used to clean and disinfect bottles and caps according to a strict standard. Article 5 Take effective disinfection measures to ensure that the total number of colonies, coliform and drug residue of terminal water or bottles and caps cleaned are not detectable. Article 6 The employees shall maintain good personal hygiene. Before entering the workshop, they shall be dressed neatly including work clothes, work caps and work shoes. The work clothes shall cover the outer clothing. The hair shall not come out of the cap. The personnel entering the filling workshop shall be dressed for a second time, ......
