Foreword

Chapters 4 and 5 of this Standard are mandatory, while others are recommended. This Standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009. This Standard replaces GB 15085-1994 Motor vehicles - Windshield wipers and washer systems - Performance requirements and test methods and GB 11565- 1989 Passenger cars - Windshield wipers - Wiped areas. This Standard is mainly based on GB 15085-1994, and integrates the contents of GB 11565- 1989.Compared with GB 11565-1989, the major technical changes, except the editorial modification, are as follows. The major differences between this Standard and GB 15085-1994. — ADD the “180° forward field of vision of the drivers” (SEE Chapter 1). — ADD the definitions of the following nouns. “windscreen-wiper system”, “sweep cycle”, “transparent area of a windscreen” and “windscreen- washer system” (SEE Sections 3.6, 3.7, 3.8 and 3.13). — ADD the content of “Determination of areas A and B” (SEE Section 4.1.2). — ADD the content of Section 4.1.9.MAKE modification and supplement to Section 4.1.3. — ADD the Annex A (informative). The major differences between this Standard and GB 11565-1989. — DELETE the “Major instruments and equipment” (SEE Section 5.1 of GB 11565-1989). — MODIFY the expressions in the “Field measuring methods” (SEE Sections 3.6, 3.7, 3.8 and 3.13). For the contents that are same as the previous contents in this Standard, directly QUOTE the standard’s clause numbers. MODIFY the content of Section 5.4.4.MODIFY the “... Under the circumstance that the wind cannot directly blow to the windscreen, evenly SPRAY a thin layer of dry medical talcum powder on the outer surface of the windscreen.” to “... Evenly COAT the outer surface of the windscreen with a layer of test mixture specified in Annex B. WAIT for drying.” [SEE Sections 5.3.3 a) and 5.3.3 c) as well as Sections 5.4.1, 5.4.2 and 5.4.4 of the 1989 edition]. This Standard was drafted by reference to the European Communities 78/318/EEC Council Directive on the approximation of the laws of the Member States relating to the wiper and washer systems of motor vehicles (2007 edition). The major differences between this Standard and Directive 78/318/EEC as well as the corresponding reasons are as follows. — The approval-related contents are not involved in this Standard. Therefore, DELETE Chapter 3 “Applications for EEC type-approval”, Chapter 4 “Granting of EEC type-approval”, Chapter 7 “Markings”, Chapter 8 “Amendments to models and approvals” and Chapter 9 “Conformity of production” in Annex I, Annex VI “Information document (vehicle)”, Annex VII “Information document (separate technical unit)”, Annex VIII “Type-approval certificate (vehicle)” and Annex IX “Type- approval certificate (separate technical unit)” of Directive 78/318/EEC. — The contents below are not involved in this Standard. Therefore, DELETE the definitions of the following nouns in Annex I of Directive 78/318/EEC. “three-dimensional reference grid”, “primary reference marks”, “actual torso angle”, “design torso angle”, “longitudinal seat-adjustment range” and “extended seat-adjustment range” (SEE Sections 2.2, 2.3, 2.4, 2.5, 2.11 and 2.12 in Annex I of Directive 78/318/EEC). — This Standard involves the electric drive system instead of the manpower drive system. Therefore, DELETE the provisions “on the applied force of the manpower drive system” in the table shown in Section 6.2.1.1 of Annex I in Directive 78/318/EEC (SEE the table shown in Section 6.2.1.1 of Annex I in Directive 78/318/EEC). — Annexes II, III and IV use China’s current relevant standards. The approval-related contents in Annexes VI to IX are not involved in this Standard. Therefore, DELETE the Annex II “Procedure for determining the H point and the actual seat-back angle and for verifying the relative positions of the R and H points and the relationship between the design seat-back angle and the actual seat-back angle”, Annex III “Method for determining the dimensional relationships between the vehicle’s primary reference marks and the three-dimensional reference grid”, Annex IV “Procedure for determining vision areas on windscreens of category M1 vehicles in relation to the V points”, Annex VI “Information document No...”, Annex VII “Information document No...”, Annex VIII “Model” and Annex IX “Model” of Directive 78/318/EEC. Compared with Directive 78/318/EEC, this Standard has made structural adjustment. The contrast table for the section numbers of this Standard and Directive 78/318/EEC is listed in Annex A. Considering China’s national conditions, when using the Directive 78/318/EEC, this Standard has made the following editorial modifications. — MODIFY “this Directive” as “this Standard”; — MODIFY “Definitions” as “Terms and definitions”; — ADD the Annex A (informative). This Standard was proposed by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People’s Republic of China. This Standard shall be under the jurisdiction of the National Technical Committee for Standardization of Automobiles (SAC/TC 114). Drafting organizations of this Standard. China Quality Certification Center, Wuhan Auto Body Accessories Institute, and Technical Center of FAW Group Corporation. Main drafters of this Standard. Li Zaihua, Qu Yanping, Yao Peng and Zhang Yu. The previous released editions substituted by this Standard are as follows. — GB 15085-1994; — GB 11565-1989.
