The title, Serial No. and implementation date of the standards are as follows. 1.Limits and Measurement Methods for Emissions from Light-duty Vehicles (China III, IV) (GB 18352.3-2005, implemented since July 1, 2007) 2.Limits and Measurement Methods for Crankcase Pollutants from Heavy-duty Vehicles Equipped with P.I Engines (GB 11340-2005, implemented since July 1, 2005) 3.Limits and Measurement Methods for Fuel Evaporative Pollutants from Heavy-duty Vehicles Equipped with P. I. Foreword

In order to implement the “Environmental Protection Law of the People’s Republic of China” and the “Law of the People’s Republic of China on the Prevention and Control of Air Pollution”, prevent and control the environmental pollution caused by the crankcase pollutants from heavy- duty vehicles equipped with P. I engines, and improve the ambient air quality, this Standard is formulated. This Standard specifies the type approval application, type approval test, production conformity inspection method and emission limits of the crankcase pollutants from Category-M and Category-N vehicles equipped with P.I engines and with a maximum total mass of more than 3,500 kg. This Standard is a revision on the basis of GB 14761.4-93 Emission Standard for Pollutants from Crankcase of Vehicle Engine and GB 11340-89 Motor Vehicles - Crankcase Emission - Measurement Methods and Limit, with reference to some technical contents of GB 18352.2- 2001. The main differences between this Standard and GB 14761.4-93 and GB 11340-89 are as follows. 1.The scope of application is adjusted. The emission requirements for the crankcase pollutants from light-duty vehicles have been included in GB 18352.2-2001.Hence, the requirements for light-duty vehicles in the previous standard are deleted; 2.The contents of type approval and production conformity are added; 3.The measurement method is modified; the revised measurement method refers to the stipulations of GB 18352.2-2001; 4.Additional test content is added. Since the date of issuance of this Standard, the following standards are abolished. 1.GB 14761.4-93 Emission Standard for Pollutants from Crankcase of Vehicle Engine. 2.GB 11340-89 Motor Vehicles - Crankcase Emission - Measurement Methods and Limit. Appendix A and Appendix B are standard appendixes. This Standard was firstly issued in August 1989 and firstly revised in November 1993.This is the second revision. In accordance with relevant laws and regulations, this Standard is enforceable. This Standard was proposed by the Department of Science and Technology Standards of Ministry of Environmental Protection. The main drafting organization of this Standard. Beijing Automotive Research Institute. This Standard was approved by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment on April 5, 2005. This Standard shall be implemented since July 1, 2005. 1 Scope

This document specifies the type approval application, type approval test method, production conformity inspection method and emission limits of crankcase pollutants from heavy-duty vehicles equipped with P. I engines. This document is applicable to heavy-duty vehicles equipped with P. I engines. The engines to be tested shall include those for which anti-leakage measures have been taken, but exclude those engines (for example, horizontally opposed engines), in which, even a slight leakage in the structure will cause abnormal operation.

The clauses of the following documents become clauses of this Standard through the references in this Standard. In terms of references without a specified date, the latest version is applicable to this document. 3 Terms and Definitions

The following terms and definitions are applicable to this Standard. 3.1 Heavy-duty Vehicle Heavy-duty vehicle refers to Category-M and Category-N vehicle with a maximum total mass of more than 3,500 kg. See GB/T 15089 for the definition of Category-M and Category-N vehicle. 3.2 Curb Weight Curb weight refers to the mass when the vehicle is no-load, the fuel tank is filled with fuel, the lubricating oil and cooling water are added to the rated quantity, and the vehicle is equipped with accompanying tools and a spare tire. 3.3 Reference Mass Reference mass refers to the mass of curb weigh plus 100 kg. 3.4 Maximum Total Mass Maximum total mass refers to the technically allowed maximum mass proposed by the vehicle manufacturer. 3.5 Engine Crankcase Engine crankcase refers to the internal or external space of the engine, connected to the oil pan by internal or external pipes, through which, gas or steam can escape. 3.6 Crankcase Pollutant Crankcase pollutant refers to the gaseous pollutant emitted from the engine crankcase into the atmosphere.

4 Type Approval

4.1 Application of Type Approval 4.1.1 Automobile manufacturers must obtain the national type approval of pollutant emission control performance for the manufacture and sales of automobiles. The application of type approval of crankcase pollutant emission control performance of a vehicle type must be submitted by the automobile manufacturer. 4.2 Approval of Type Approval If the various technical requirements specified in Chapter 5 are satisfied, the vehicle type will obtain the approval by the type approval authority.

5 Technical Requirements and Tests

5.1 For the components that affect the crankcase pollutant emission performance of the vehicle, in design, manufacture and assembly, it must be ensured that they can satisfy the requirements of this Standard under the normal operating conditions of the vehicle. 5.3 Emission limits In accordance with the method described in Appendix B of this Standard, carry out the test. Any gas in the crankcase is not allowed to be emitted into the atmosphere. 5.4 For the dual-fuel vehicles, the test is carried out only on gasoline. 5.5 For the single gas fuel vehicles, the test is carried out only on gas fuel.

6 Production Conformity

6.1 The production conformity of crankcase pollutant emission must be guaranteed in accordance with the stipulations in the production conformity guarantee materials submitted at the time of type approval. The inspection of production conformity shall be carried out in accordance with the description of Appendix A and the stipulations of Appendix B. 6.2 The type approval authority can conduct an inspection on the manufacturer for the production conformity of crankcase pollutant emission at any time. 6.3 If a certain vehicle type cannot satisfy the requirements of Article 6.2, the manufacturer shall take all necessary measures as soon as possible to re-establish production conformity, otherwise, the type approval of crankcase pollutant emission for this vehicle type shall be revoked.

7 Implementation of Standard

Starting from July 1, 2005, all vehicles that are subject to the crankcase pollution emission type approval as specified in Chapter 1 must comply with the requirements of this Standard. Before July 1, 2005, type approval can be carried out in accordance with the corresponding requirements of this Standard. ......
