1 Scope
This part of GB/T33598 specifies the terms and definitions, general
requirements, pollution control and management requirements for the recycling
of traction battery used in electric vehicle.
This part applies to the material recycling of lithium-ion power batteries and
nickel-hydrogen power batteries used in electric vehicles.
2 Normative references
The following documents are essential to the application of this document. For
the dated documents, only the versions with the dates indicated are applicable
to this document; for the undated documents, only the latest version (including
all the amendments) are applicable to this standard.

3 Terms and definitions
The terms and definitions as defined in GB/T 19596 as well as the following
terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1
Element recycling efficiency
The percentage of the total mass of a target element recycled in the
treatment process accounts for the total mass of the target element as
contained in the waste battery chemicals.
3.2
Comprehensive element recycling efficiency
The percentage of the total mass of multiple target elements recycled in the
treatment process accounts for the total mass of target elements contained
in waste battery chemicals.
4 General requirements
4.1 General requirements
4.1.1 Material recycling enterprises should meet the requirements of GB/T
36132 and shall adopt advanced and applicable technologies encouraged by
the state.
4.2 Personnel requirements
4.2.1 Before operation, labor protection equipment shall be worn and used in
accordance with the requirements of GB/T 11651; personnel who fail to perform
as required shall neither be near the work area nor operate equipment.
4.2.2 It shall master the methods of emergency response and emergency
rescue.
4.3 Site requirements
4.3.1 The factory building shall meet the requirements of GBZ 1.The fire
resistance rating and lighting design of the building shall meet the requirements
of GB 50016 and GB 50034.
4.3.2 The plant area shall be equipped with fire extinguishers in accordance
with the requirements of GB 50140; the design of water supply and drainage
engineering shall meet the requirements of GB 50069.
4.4 Processing requirements
4.4.1 The recycling shall meet the requirements of relevant standards such as
YS/T 1174.
4.4.2 The recycling shall follow the principles of safety, environmental protection
and reuse.
4.5 Recycling efficiency and calculation method
4.5.1 In the crushing and sorting stage of power battery cells, the crushing and
sorting recycling efficiency shall meet the requirements in YS/T 1174.
5 Pollution control and management requirements
5.1 The discharge concentration of wastewater generated in the recycling
process shall meet the requirements of GB 8978 and other relevant standards.
5.2 The solid waste generated in the recycling process shall be identified and
classified according to the requirements of GB 5085.7, meanwhile meet the
following requirements.
5.3 After the waste gas and dust-containing gas produced in the recovery
process are processed by the gas purification system, the emission shall meet
the requirements of GB 16297.
5.4 The noise value of the plant area shall meet the requirements of GB 12348.
5.5 Treatment equipment and containers shall have safety protection measures.
