Air cleaner
1 Scope
This document specifies the terms and definitions, classification and model
nomenclature, requirements, test conditions, test methods, inspection rules, marks,
instructions for use, packaging, transportation and storage of air cleaners.
NOTE 1.The air cleaners involved in this document include independent air cleaning appliances
and various air cleaning modules.
This document applies to the household and similar air cleaners (hereinafter referred to
as "the cleaners") that have the function of removing one or more of the above-
mentioned target pollutants such as particulate matter, gaseous pollutants,
microorganisms (bacteria, fungi, viruses), odors and allergens.
This document is applicable to but not limited to the cleaners with the following
working principles. filter type, adsorption type, complex type, chemical catalytic type,
photocatalytic type, electrostatic type, plasma type, composite type.
NOTE 2.A composite cleaner refers to the cleaner that uses two or more cleaning principles to
remove one or more air pollutants.
The following products can be implemented with reference to this document.
- Small, portable cleaners, passenger car cleaners;
- Air duct type cleaning device and other similar cleaners;
- Other products with air cleaning function.
NOTE 3.For example, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, fresh air fans, fans, humidifiers, heaters and
vacuum cleaners.
This document does not apply to.
- Cleaners designed for industrial use;
- Cleaners used in special environments of corrosive and explosive gases (such as
dust, steam and gas);
- Cleaners designed for medical use.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1 air cleaner
Household and similar electrical appliances that have a certain ability to remove one or
more target pollutants from indoor air.
3.2 target pollutant
Specific air pollutants with clear components, mainly including particulate matter,
gaseous pollutants, microorganisms, allergens and odors.
3.3 particulate matter; PM2.5
Particulate matter in ambient air with an aerodynamic equivalent diameter less than or
equal to 2.5μm.

3.4 test chamber
A device used to determine the cleaner's ability to remove target pollutants in the air in
a limited confined space and standard test conditions.
3.5 Operating modes
3.5.1 rated mode(s)
The clearly stated best cleaning ability for the target pollutants of the cleaner. It is a
continuous and stable operation mode.
3.5.2 low noise mode(s)
The low noise operation and continuous and stable operation modes such as "night",
"sleep" and "quiet" clearly stated by the cleaner.
4 Classification and model naming
4.1 Classification
4.1.1 Classification according to cleaning principle
The cleaners can be classified into but not limited to the following categories.
- Filter type;
- Electrostatic type;
- Catalytic formula type;
- Plasma type;
- Physical or chemical adsorption type;
- Ozone type;
- Composite type.
4.1.2 Classification according to installation (use) method
The cleaners can be classified into the following categories.
- Floor type;
- Desktop type;
- Wall-mounted type;
- In-line type;
- Ceiling type;
- Vehicular type;
- Robot type;
- Pipeline type;
- Wearable type.
4.2 Naming method
4.2.1 The cleaners shall comply with the following naming methods.
Series code. represented by any combination of English letters A~Z and Arabic
numerals 01~99
Cleaning principle. The cleaning principle is divided into the following main
types.
G - filter type, D - electrostatic type, F - compound type, Q - other type
Cleaner parameters. clean air delivery rate, in cubic meters per hour
(m3/h)
Name code. the two Chinese characters and pinyin prefixes of the air
cleaner
Naming example for the cleaner. KJ600G-A01
Where,
KJ - Air cleaner;
600 - Clean air rate is 600m3/h;
G - Filter type;
A01- It indicates the A series, item 1.
4.2.2 The product model name is based on the main function parameters of the product.
Products with the ability to remove multiple target contaminants need to comply with
Chapter 9.
5 Requirements
5.1 Particulate matter cleaning
5.1.1 Clean air rate
The measured value of particulate clean air rate shall not be lower than 90% of the
nominal value.
5.1.2 Cumulate clean mass
The cumulative cleaning volume and the nominal clean air rate shall meet the associated
requirements in 5.1.3.
If the specific value of the cumulate clean mass is declared and is higher than the
correlation indicator value in Table 1, the measured value shall not be lower than 90%
of the nominal value.
5.1.3 Correlation indicators
The correlation between the cumulate clean mass of particulate matter by the cleaner
and the nominal clean air rate shall meet the requirements of Table 1.
5.2 Cleaning of gaseous pollutants
5.2.1 Clean air rate
For the clean air rate of the nominal single-component or mixed-component gaseous
pollutants, the measured value shall not be lower than 90% of the nominal value.
5.2.2 Cumulate clean mass
Under single-component loading, the cumulate clean mass of formaldehyde gas and the
nominal amount of clean air shall meet the correlation requirements of 5.2.3.
If the specific value of the cumulate clean mass of a single component (or a single target
pollutant under mixed component loading) is declared higher than the correlation
indicator value in Table 2, the measured value shall not be lower than 80% of its
nominal value.
5.2.3 Correlation indicators
Under the single-component loading of the cleaner, the correlation between the
cumulate clean mass of formaldehyde and the nominal clean air rate shall meet the
requirements of Table 2.
5.3 Microorganism removal
5.3.1 Antibacterial performance
If the cleaner expressly has antibacterial and sterilizing functions, it shall meet the
requirements of GB 21551.3.
5.3.2 Virus removal performance
5.3.2.1 Removal rate requirements
If the cleaner expressly has the virus removal function, the virus removal rate under the
specified conditions shall not be lower than 99.9%.
5.3.2.2 Detection limit for chamber removal
Carry out the specified detection limit test for chamber removal after the test of 5.3.2.1,
and it shall not be detected.
5.4 Standby power
The measured value of the standby power of the cleaner in off mode shall not be greater
than 0.5W.
The maximum measured value of the standby power of the cleaner in non-network
standby mode shall not be greater than 1.5W.
The maximum measured value of the standby power of the cleaner in network standby
mode shall not be greater than 2.0W.
The specified value of the cleaner with information display device is increased by 0.5W.
NOTE. Standby power needs to indicate the working mode.
5.5 Noise
5.5.1 The measured value of the clean air rate and the corresponding noise value of the
cleaner in the rated mode shall comply with the provisions in Table 3.
The tolerance between the measured noise value of the cleaner and the nominal value
is not greater than +3dB(A).
6 Test conditions
6.1 General conditions
The test shall comply with the following general conditions.
a) Except for the tests that are specifically stipulated for the test environment
conditions, the type test shall be carried out in an indoor environment with an
ambient temperature of (23±3)°C, a relative humidity of (50±10)%, no external
airflow, strong sunlight and other radiation effects. conduct;
b) The test power supply is a single-phase AC sine wave. The fluctuation range of
voltage and frequency shall not exceed ±1% of the rated value;
c) The tested prototype shall be tested in the rated mode or other modes that need to
be tested according to the usage method specified in the instructions for use;
d) Before the test, check that the target pollutant generation, measurement and
recording equipment shall be in normal use.
6.2 Measuring instruments
6.2.1 General measuring instruments
The test general measuring instruments shall meet the following requirements.
a) The electrical measuring instruments used for type tests, except for those specified
specifically, shall have an accuracy of not less than level 0.5.It shall not less than
level 1.0 for the exit-factory test;
b) Thermometer. the maximum allowable error is ±0.5℃;
c) Hygrometer. the maximum allowable error of relative humidity is ±2%;
d) Chronograph instrument. the maximum allowable error is ±1s/24h.
6.2.2 Special measuring instruments
For different test contents, special measuring instruments shall meet the requirements
of the corresponding appendix.
6.3 Test chamber
If there is no special regulation, the test chamber shall meet the requirements of 3m3,
10m3, 30m3 and 81m3 test chambers specified in QB/T 5364-2019.
6.4 Test prototype
6.4.1 Working mode setting
Unless otherwise specified, the test shall be carried out in the rated mode of the cleaner.
If the cleaner has no rated mode, the highest gear is turned on by default for testing.
NOTE. For products, whose cleaning function is an auxiliary function, such as air conditioners,
dehumidifiers and fresh air fans, it is only necessary to start the rated mode of the cleaning function
according to the instruction manual or turn on the highest gear for testing.
6.4.2 Placement position
The placement of the test prototype shall meet the following requirements.
a) 3m3 test chamber
If the height of the air outlet is less than 400mm, it shall be placed on a table with
a height of 400mm. If the height of the air outlet is greater than or equal to 400mm,
it shall be placed on the ground.
b) 10m3, 30m3, 81m3 test chambers
Center position. Floor type (on the ground), desktop type (700mm above the
table), wall-mounted type (the lower edge is 1800mm from the ground).
Other models not specified above, if not specified, are classified according to the
height of the air outlet. When the height of the air outlet is less than 700mm, put
the cleaner on the table for the test. When the height of the air outlet is greater
than or equal to 700mm, the cleaner is placed on the ground for the test.
6.5 Target pollutant
For different tests, the target pollutants shall meet the corresponding requirements. See
the corresponding tests for details.
7 Test methods
7.1 Particulate matter cleaning
7.1.1 Clean air rate
The test method of particle clean air rate shall be carried out according to Annex A.
NOTE. See Annex B for the calculation method of the clean air rate corresponding to the applicable
area.
7.1.2 Cumulate clean mass
The test method for the cumulate clean mass of particulate matter shall be carried out
in accordance with Annex C.
NOTE. See Annex D for the conversion method of particle cleaning life.
7.2 Cleaning of gaseous pollutants
7.2.1 Clean air rate
The test method for clean air rate (single component and mixed component) of gaseous
pollutants shall be carried out according to Annex E.
7.2.2 Cumulate clean mass
The test method for cumulative cleaning capacity of single component and mixed
component of gaseous pollutants shall be carried out according to Annex F.
NOTE. See Annex G for the conversion method of cleaning life of gaseous pollutants.
7.3 Microbial removal
7.3.1 Antibacterial and sterilization performance
The antibacterial and sterilization performance of the cleaner is carried out according
to the method specified in GB 21551.3.
7.3.2 Virus removal performance
The cleaner's test method for virus removal performance shall be carried out according
to Annex H.
7.4 Standby power
7.4.1 According to the definition of working mode in 3.5, determine whether the cleaner
has off mode, non-network standby mode, or network standby mode.
7.4.2 The standby power test shall be tested according to the method specified in GB/T
35758-2017.
7.5 Noise
The cleaner operates in the corresponding working mode. Test according to the relevant
requirements of GB/T 4214.1-2017.Add the following content.
- Add in 6.5.4 of GB/T 4214.1-2017.Wall-mounted cleaners, including their
accessories, shall be placed on fixed racks. When installed, the cleaner is 0.6m from
the ground. The distance between its back and the vertical wall is D = (1 ± 0.5)cm;
- For free-standing floor-standing cleaners with any side length of the reference body
greater than 0.7 m, including embedded cleaners, adopt the test method of 7.1.1 in
GB/T 4214.1-2017.
7.6 Cleaning energy efficiency
7.6.1 Input power
Connect the cleaner to the electrical parameter test instrument. Turn on the power. The
instrument enters the measurement state. After the cleaner has been running stably in
the rated mode for at least 30min, start reading the measured value.
Within 30min after starting to read the measured value, the measured power change is
less than 1%. The measured value can be read directly as the rated power.
If the measured power changes during this period is not less than 1%, the measurement
shall be continued for another 60min. Divide the integral value of power consumption
during this period by the test time to calculate the average power, which shall be the
input power.
7.6.2 Calculation of cleaning energy efficiency
The cleaning energy efficiency of the cleaner is calculated according to formula (1).
7.7 Other properties
7.7.1 Allergen removal performance
See Annex I for the test method and evaluation requirements of the cleaner’s allergen
removal performance.
7.7.2 Odor removal performance
See Annex J for the test method and evaluation requirements of the odor removal
performance of the cleaner.
7.7.3 Cleaning performance in auto mode
See Annex K for the cleaning performance test method and evaluation requirements of
the auto mode of the cleaner.
7.7.4 Cleaning performance of air duct type cleaning device
See Annex L for the performance test method and evaluation requirements of the air
duct type cleaning device installed in the air duct.
7.7.5 Performance of wearable cleaners
See Annex M for wearable cleaner performance test methods and evaluation
requirements.
7.7.6 Simulating secondary odors
See Annex N for the test method and evaluation requirements of the simulated
secondary odor of the cleaner.
7.7.7 Dynamic balance test (deozone performance)
See Annex O for dynamic balance test methods and evaluation requirements.
8 Inspection rules
8.1 Inspection classification
The inspection of the cleaner is divided into exit-factory inspection and type inspection.
8.2 Exit-factory inspection
8.2.1 Mandatory inspection items for exit-factory inspection
All cleaners that are formally proposed for delivery shall undergo exit-factory
inspection.
The mandatory inspection items of the exit-factory inspection are No. 1 to No. 3 in
Table 4.
8.2.2 Spot inspection items for exit-factory inspection
The sampling inspection of the cleaner when it leaves the factory is carried out
according to GB/T 2828.1.The inspection lot, sampling plan, inspection level and
acceptable quality level shall be agreed upon by the manufacturer and the ordering party.
The items of sampling inspection are shown as No. 4, 6, 8, 10, 11 in Table 4.
8.3 Type inspection
8.3.1 When the cleaner is in one of the following situations, type inspection shall be
carried out.
a) The first batch of products manufactured after identification and finalization or
the old products produced by the factory;
b) After formal production, when there are major changes in structure, process and
materials that may affect product performance;
c) The product is produced again after one year of discontinuation;
d) The national quality supervision agency puts forward the requirement of type
inspection.
8.3.2 Type inspection shall include all inspection items specified in this document and
GB 4706.45.
8.3.3 Type inspection sampling shall be carried out according to GB/T 2829.Two
samples for inspection shall be taken from the acceptance batches that have passed the
exit-factory inspection. Take another 1 unit for cumulative cleaning test. Take 3 units
in total. Calculate by the number of rejected products per 100 units. Use the primary
sampling plan with discrimination level I. See Table 5 for rejection classification,
rejection quality level judgment and judgment array.
8.4 Inspection sample processing
After passing the exit-factory inspection, the cleaner can be delivered to the ordering
party as an accepted product. Samples that have passed the type inspection cannot be
used as accepted products.
9 Marks, instructions for use, packaging, transportation and
storage
9.1 Marks
9.1.1 Universal marks
The universal mark of the cleaner shall meet the requirements of 5.1 in GB 4706.1, GB
4706.45 and GB/T 5296.2-2008.In addition, text prompts for product maintenance and
filter screen/filter material replacement/cleaning shall also be marked on the product.
9.1.2 Performance indicators
The content of marks related to the basic performance of the cleaner includes the
following aspects.
a) Specified removal target pollutant types.
1) Particulate matter;
2) Gaseous pollutants (single component, mixed component);
3) Microorganisms (test strains or viruses);
4) Other pollutants.
b) Clean air rate (CADR), shall indicate the corresponding target pollutants and test
conditions.
NOTE. Examples of target pollutants. formaldehyde, toluene, styrene, etc. Examples of test
conditions. single component loading, mixed component loading, etc.
c) Cumulate clean mass of particulate matter.
d) Cumulate clean mass of gaseous pollutants (standard selection), indicating the
corresponding target pollutants and test conditions (single component, mixed
component).
e) Noise.
f) Low noise mode (if available).
g) Removal of microbes and other features (if any).
h) Consumable replacement reminder.
i) If it is used in an environment contaminated by pathogenic microorganisms, there
shall be necessary prompts and warning signs.
j) Other working modes and instructions.
9.2 Instructions for use
The instructions for use of cleaner shall meet the requirements of GB/T 5296.2-2008.
In addition to the contents specified in 9.1, it shall at least include.
a) Name, model and other performance indicators of the cleaner;
b) Installation and use requirements, maintenance and maintenance precautions;
c) Names of accompanying attachments;
d) List of common faults and solutions, after-sales service items;
e) Manufacturer's name and address;
f) Cleaners or instructions for use of cleaner shall also have the following precautions
and content.
- Safety precautions;
- Specific cleaning principle;
- Precautions for placement;
- Precautions when using;
NOTE 1."Precautions when using" includes possible negative effects during the use of the
cleaner.
- Precautions when replacing and cleaning the cleaning parts;
- Other precautions.
NOTE 2."Other precautions", for example, when replacing the filter screen of the cleaner
continuously used in the environment polluted by pathogenic microorganisms, give
reminders on the necessary protective measures.
9.3 Packaging
The packaging of the cleaner shall comply with the relevant regulations of GB/T 191
and GB/T 1019.
The cleaner shall be accompanied by a certificate of conformity and instructions for use
of the product.
9.4 Transport and storage
During transportation, the cleaner shall not be bumped, squeezed, thrown and strongly
vibrated, as well as rain, damp and exposed to the sun.
The cleaner shall be stored in a dry, ventilated, non-corrosive and non-explosive gas
warehouse. Prevent bumping.
Annex A
(normative)
Test method for clean air delivery rate of particulate matter
A.1 Test principle
The principle of this test is based on the "decay method". In a relatively closed space,
under the action of the air cleaner, the concentration of particulate matter follows the
law of exponential decay with the cleaning time. Function fitting can be performed on
the test time and the corresponding concentration in the test. Calculate the clean air
delivery rate.
A.2 Test conditions
A.2.1 Special measuring instruments
Laser dust particle counters shall meet the following requirements.
- The test particle size range shall include 0.3μm~10μm;
- The measuring range of the instrument shall meet 106 L-1 (if the measuring range
cannot be reached, a suitable diluter shall be configured; or an instrument of the
same level that has been calibrated).
A.2.2 Standard target pollutants
Particles. Cigarette smoke. The amount of tar is 8mg, expressed as the total number of
particles above 0.3μm.
Particulate matter generation can adopt the generation principle shown in Figure A.1 or
other generation methods with equivalent effects.
Figure A.1 is the positive pressure particulate matter generating device.
