Foreword
This Standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2020
“Directives for standardization - Part 1: Rules for the structure and drafting of
standardizing documents”.
This Standard is Part 3 of GB/T 15224 “Classification for quality of coal”. The
following parts of GB/T 15224 have been issued:
- Part 1: Ash;
- Part 2: Sulfur content;
- Part 3: Calorific value.
This Standard replaces GB/T 15224.3-2010 “Classification for quality of coal - Part 3:
Calorific value”. Compared with GB/T 15224.3-2010, in addition to structural and
editorial changes, the main technical changes in this Standard are as follows:
a) Change the extraction and preparation of coal sample. Add the provisions on
extraction of coal seam samples. Delete the provisions on extraction of
commercial coal samples (see 5.1 of this Edition, 4.1 of Edition 2010).
Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this Standard may be
the subject of patent rights. The issuing authority shall not be held responsible for
identifying any or all such patent rights.
This Standard was proposed by China Coal Industry Association.
This Standard shall be under the jurisdiction of National Technical Committee on Coal
of Standardization Administration of China (SAC/TC 42).
The drafting organizations of this Standard: Coal Science and Technology Research
Institute Co., Ltd., National Energy Investment Group Co., Ltd. Coal Management
Branch, Huaibei Mining Co., Ltd., Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Coal and
Coalbed Methane Testing Institute (Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Coal Product
Quality Testing Center).
Main drafters of this Standard: Ding Hua, Bai Xiangfei, Tu Hua, Wang He, Chen Gui,
Wang Yu, Wu Hailong, Zhou Xiaohui, Zhou Jian, Zhang Yuhong.
Versions of standard substituted by this Standard are:

1 Scope
This document specifies the classification, naming and inspection of coal calorific value
according to the range of high calorific value on dry basis (Qgr,d).
This document is applicable to the exploration and evaluation of coal resources. It
guides the production, processing and utilization of coal.
