1Foreword
This national standard is corresponding to standard "High Strength Large Hexagonal Nuts
for Bolting Structure Production Grade B - Property Classes 8 and 10" (ISO 4775.1984). It is
non-equivalent to the consistency of ISO 4775.
This standard replaces standard "High Strength Large Hexagon Nuts for Steel
Structures" (GB/ T 1229-1991).
Compared with GB/T 1229-1991, the changes in this standard are listed as follows.
- The related styles of dual chamfered nuts of GB/T 1229-1991 have been deleted
(Figured "optional style" of Chapter 3 and Data Column M in appendix of GB/T 1229-1991);
the code m” of original size has been changed into m′ (Chapter 3 of GB/T 1229- 1991).

1 Scope
This national standard specifies the style and size, technical condition and tagging of
the high strength large hexagon nuts whose screw dimension is M12~M30.
This national standard is applicable to the contact sets of friction-type high strength
bolt hexagon nut and plain washer for steel structures which are used together
with GB/T 1228-2006 High Strength Bolts with Large Hexagon Head for Steel
Structures.
