GB/T 6995 " Markings for electric wires and cables" is divided into five parts. - Part 1.General requirements; - Part 2.Standard colours; - Part 3.Identifications of cables and wires; - Part 4.Identifications of insulated conductors of cables and wires for electrical appliances and equipments; - Part 5.Identifications of insulated cores of power cables. This Part is part 3 of GB/T 6995. This Part replaces GB 6995.3-1986 “Markings for electric cables and wires - Part 3. Identifications of cables and wires”. Compared with GB 6995.3-1986, the main changes of this Part are as follows. - Add chapter "Normative References" (see Chapter 2); - Adjust the clause number of "Marking content"; the following clause numbers are adjusted accordingly (Chapters 2, 3 and 4 of previous edition; Chapters 2, 3 and 4 of this edition); - Delete the contents that the exported products can also use "Made in China" as the mark of manufacturing-place AND frequency and load bearing capacity that are contained in the wires and cables' specifications (2.1 of previous edition); - Add the content of length marking (3.1 of this edition); - Add the content of manufacturing date marking (3.2 of this edition); - Add the content that using other graphic symbols as manufacturing-place (4.3 of this edition); - Add the content of laser printing (5.2.1 of this edition). 1 Scope

This Part of GB/T 6995 is applicable to identification of electrical equipment’s wires and cables, power cables and communication cables. This Part shall be used together with GB/T 6995.1-2008 and GB/T 6995.2-2008.

The following documents contain the provisions which, through reference in this Part of GB/T 6995, become the provisions of this Standard. For dated references, their subsequent amendments (excluding corrigendum) or revisions do not apply to this Standard. However, the parties who enter into agreement based on this Standard are encouraged to investigate whether the latest versions of these documents are applicable. 3 Marking content

3.1 A complete identification mark of wires and cables includes manufacturing-place mark, functional mark and length mark (if any). 3.2 Marking content shall be specified in the product standard. If manufacturing date (such as year-month) mark is needed to be added, it shall be negotiated by supplier and purchaser.

4 Marking method

4.1 manufacturing-place mark shall be continuously marked on the outer surface of the sheath or insulation; or continuously marked on scrape-tape, isolation strip, insulating strip, or marking strip. It may be marked together with the functional mark. It is allowed to adopt the manufacturer’s specific single-colour or multi-colour marking lines, however, it must be clearly defined in the product standard. 4.3 The arrangement sequence of marks are usually the manufacturer's name or trademark, model and specification. Manufacturing-place mark may be in Chinese characters or Chinese Pinyin; it may also use the appropriate foreign language marking and other graphical symbols.

5 Marking requirements

5.1 General requirements 5.1.1 General requirements of marking shall comply with GB/T 6995.1-2008 provisions. 5.1.2 Marking colours shall be confirmed to comply with or near to the colours specified in Chapter 2 of GB/T 6995.2-2008. 5.2 Printing mark 5.3 Marking strip The marking strip may be one strip, or may be a few strips; it shall have non- hygroscopic property. ......
