This Document was drafted as per the rules specified in GB/T 1.1-2020 Directives for
Standardization – Part 1.Rules for the Structure and Drafting of Standardizing Documents.
This Document replaced GB 19522-2010 Blood & Breath Alcohol Concentration and
Examination for Vehicle Drivers. Compared with GB 19522-2010, the major technical changes
of this Document are as follows besides the structural adjustments and editorial modifications.
a) Change the scope (see Clause 1 of this Edition; Clause 1 of the 2010 Edition);
b) Delete the terms and definitions of vehicle driver and alcohol concentration (see 3.1 and
3.2 of the 2010 Edition);
c) Add the definitions of blood alcohol concentration and breath alcohol concentration (see
3.1 and 3.2 of this Edition);
d) Change the general provisions of the inspection method (see 5.1 of this Editon; 5.1 of the
2010 Edition);
e) Change the inspection requirements for blood alcohol concentration (see 5.3 of this
Edition; 5.3 of the 2010 Edition);
f) Delete the inspection requirements for saliva alcohol (see 5.4 of the 2010 Edition);
g) Delete the requirements and methods for human body balance test (see 5.5 and Appendix
A of the 2010 Edition).

1 Scope
This Document specifies the thresholds of blood and breath alcohol concentration for vehicle
drivers while driving; and describes the corresponding inspection methods.
This Document is applicable to the inspection of blood and breath alcohol concentration for
vehicle drivers.
NOTE. Vehicle drivers include motor vehicle drivers and non-motor vehicle drivers.

3 Terms and Definitions
For the purposes of this Document, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1 Blood alcohol concentration
Ethanol content per 100 ml of blood.
NOTE. The unit is mg/100 mL.
