1 Scope

This standard specifies the general requirements for the detection of transgenic plants and their products and the operational specifications of the PCR testing laboratory for transgenic plants. This standard applies to the detection of genetically modified components in transgenic plants and their products.

3 Terms and definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this standard. 3.1.1 Genetically engineered organisms that alter the genome. Includes genetically modified plants, animals and microorganisms. 3.1.2 Plants that change genomes through genetic engineering techniques are a class of genetically modified organisms. 3.1.3 DNA extracted from genetically modified organisms (such as seeds) or standard double-stranded DNA molecules can be detected as a template for PCR reactions.
