Foreword

This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009. This standard replaces LY/T 1182-1995 "β-pinene". Compared with LY/T 1182-1995, this standard has the following main differences. --- The color is changed to the platinum-cobalt method, and the color number is revised to 30; --- Determination of relative density was modified to the densitometer method; --- β-pinene content calculation does not contain myrcene; Determination of β-pinene content by capillary column chromatography; --- Eliminated the product level of β-pinene content of 80% and 90%. This standard was proposed by the Institute of Chemical Industry of Forest Products of the Chinese Academy of Forestry. 1 Scope

This standard specifies the terms and definitions, requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation, storage and safety of β-pinene. This standard applies to β-pinene obtained from the distillation of turpentine. The β-pinene separated from other natural essential oils can be used as reference.

3 Terms and definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document. 3.1 Also known as 2 (10)-pinene. Generally obtained by rectification of gum turpentine, it is a monoterpene olefin containing a bicyclic ring and an unsaturated olefinic bond. Molecular formula C10H16, relative molecular mass 136.23. The chemical name is 6,6-dimethyl-2-methylenebicyclo[3,1,1]heptane, and its structural formula is shown in Figure 1.
