1 Scope

This standard provides the terms and definitions, basic requirements, sea water intake and pretreatment, multi-effect distillation equipment Guidance on design, product water storage facilities, concentrated brine discharge, cooling sea water discharge and wastewater treatment. This standard applies to the design of newly built or expanded multi-effect distillation seawater desalination systems.

3 Terms and definitions

The following terms and definitions defined in HY/T 203.2-2016 apply to this document. For ease of use, the following is repeated Some terms and definitions in HY/T 203.2-2016. 3.1 Desalination The process of removing salt from seawater and producing fresh water. [HY/T 203.2-2016, definition 2.6] 3.2 Distillation and desalination When an aqueous solution containing salts is heated to boiling, the water evaporates into steam, while the salts remain in the solution, and the steam is condensed to obtain fresh water.
