4 General requirements

This standard specifies requirements for the electrical equipment of machines. The risks associated with the hazards relevant to the electrical equipment shall be assessed as part of the overall requirements for risk assessment of the machine.

5 Incoming Supply Conductor Terminations and Devices for Disconnecting and Switching off

It is recommended that, where practicable, the electrical equipment of a machine is connected to a single incoming supply. Where another supply is necessary for certain parts of the equipment, that supply should be derived, as far as is practicable, from devices forming part of the electrical equipment of the machine.

6 Protection against Electric Shock

Live parts shall be located inside enclosures that provide protection against contact with live parts of at least IP2X or IPXXB.

7 Protection of Equipment

Overcurrent protection shall be provided where the current in any circuit can exceed either the rating of any component or the current carrying capacity of the conductors, whichever is the lesser value.

8 Equipotential Bonding

Where a part is removed for any reason, the protective bonding circuit for the remaining parts shall not be interrupted.

9 Control Circuits and Control Functions

Where control circuits are supplied from an AC source, transformers having separate windings shall be used to separate the power supply from the control supply. ......
