1 Scope
This Standard specifies the order content, size, shape and weight, technical
requirements, test method, inspection rules, packaging, marks and quality
certificate of stainless steel wire rods.
This Standard is applicable to stainless steel wire rods but not welding wire rods.

3 Order content
The order contract or order sheet according to this Standard shall contain the
following information.
4 Size, shape and weight
4.1 The nominal diameter range of wire rods is. 4.5mm~40.0mm.
4.2 The allowable diameter deviation and out-of-roundness of wire rods shall
comply with the provisions of GB/T 14981-2009 (when the diameter is 4.5mm,
it shall be in accordance with the provisions for 5mm) and the accuracy is in
accordance with level B.
4.3 Weight of wire rods
4.3.1 Each coil of wire rods consists of one piece. The weight of wire rods shall
not be less than 1000kg.
4.3.2 As required by the purchaser and agreed by both parties, the wire rods
with other special coil weight requirements can be provided.
5 Technical requirements
5.1 Designation and chemical composition
5.1.1 The designation and chemical composition (melting analysis) of steel shall
comply with the provisions of Table 1 ~ Table 5.As required by the purchaser
and agreed by both parties, wire rods of other designations and chemical
composition requirements can be provided.
5.2 Delivery status
The delivery status of wire rods shall comply with the provisions of Table 6.
5.3 Hardness
For ferritic and martensitic wire rods delivered in annealed condition, the
hardness shall comply with the provisions of Table 7.See Table 7 for annealing
process.
5.4 Mechanical properties
The mechanical properties of Austenitic stainless steel that is delivered in solid
solution and the nominal diameter of wire rod is not greater than 20mm shall
comply with the provisions for relevant groups in Table 8.
5.5 Surface quality
The wire rods shall be well processed. The surface must be free from defects
that are harmful to use and the depth of longitudinal crack-like defects on the
surface must not exceed the requirements of Table 9.
5.6 Special requirements
As required by the purchaser and agreed by the supplier and the purchaser,
there shall be special requirements for steel’s chemical composition, grain size,
mechanical properties, macrostructure and surface quality.
6 Test methods
6.1 The inspection items and test methods of steel shall comply with the
provisions of Table 10.
6.2 Chemical composition analysis
The chemical analysis methods are in accordance with general methods such
as GB/T 223.4, GB/T 223.8, GB/T 223.11, GB/T 223.16, GB/T 223.18, GB/T
223.23, GB/T 223.25, GB/T 223.26, GB/T 223.28, GB/T 223.36, GB/T 223.40,
GB/T 223.43, GB/T 223.60, GB/T 223.61, GB/T 223.64, GB/T 223.72, GB/T
223.76, GB/T 223.86 or GB/T 11170, GB/T 20123, GB/T 20124.
7 Inspection rules
7.1 Inspection and acceptance
The quality of wire rods is subject to exit-factory inspection carried out by the
supplier quality department. The purchaser has right to carry out the
acceptance on wire rods according to the provisions of this Standard.
7.2 Batching rules
Wire rods shall be inspected and accepted in batches. Each batch shall be
composed by wire rods of same furnace number, of same designation, of same
size, of same rolling system and of same heat treatment batch.
7.3 Sampling quantity and sampling parts
Sampling quantity and sampling parts of each inspection item of each batch of
wire rods shall be in accordance with the provisions of Table 10.
7.4 Re-inspection and determination rules
The re-inspection and determination rules of wire rods shall comply with the
provisions of Gb/T 17505.
8 Packaging marks and quality certificate
The packaging, marks and quality certificate of wire rods shall comply with the
provisions of GB/T 2101.
