3 Product variety and identification
3.1 Product variety
This part covers a product variety of the wind turbine generator open gear
greases, AND the product covered is divided into four consistency grades (0,
00, 1, 2) in accordance with the Appendix A of GB/T 7631.1-2008.
3.2 Product markings
Wind turbine generator open gear grease is marked as.
Product name Consistency grade Standard number
Example. Wind turbine generator open gear grease 0 GB/T 33540.2
4 Requirements and test methods
The technical requirements and test methods for the wind turbine generator
open gear grease are as shown in Table 1.
Appendix A
(Normative)
Open gear grease slip test
A.1 Scope
This method is suitable for determining the sliding performance of open gear
grease.
A.2 Summary of methods
In this method, vertically HANG the test piece coated with open gear grease at
70 °C ± 0.5 °C; after 48 h ± 0.5 h; OBSERVE the slipping of grease from the
metal surface.
A.3 Reagents and materials
A.3.1 Anhydrous ethanol. in line with GB/T 678.
A.3.2 Solvent oil for use in rubber industry. in line with SH 0004.
A.3.3 Sandpaper or emery cloth. No.180 and No.220.
A.3.4 Absorbent cotton.
A.3.5 steel sheet. in line with the B test piece material and specification
requirements as specified in the method A of SH/T 0218.
A.4 Instruments and equipment
A.4.1 Electric blast oven, with a thermometer, 0 °C ~ 100 °C, division 0.5 °C.
A.4.2 Scraper.
A.4.3 Hook.
A.4.4 Metal sheet grease coater. 50 mm × 50 mm × (0.4 ± 0.05) mm, the
center has a round hole of diameter 20 mm, AND it is required for the metal
sheet grease coater surface to be smooth and flat, as shown in Figure A.1.
B.5.1 Test preparation
B.5.1.1 Firstly USE the solvent oil and then the ethanol to wash the bright soft
metal test piece; BLOW it dry; COOL it to room temperature.
B.5.1.2 USE the solvent oil to wash the metal sheet grease coater, and KEEP
it smooth and free from grease stain.
B.5.1.3 ADJUST the temperature of the low temperature test chamber to
-40 °C ± 1 °C; MAINTAIN this temperature.
B.5.2 Analytical procedures
B.5.2.1 PLACE the grease coater on the top of the soft metal sheet and ALIGN
the grease coater with the soft metal sheet.
B.5.2.2 USE the scraper to uniformly coat the sample over the grease coater;
REMOVE the excessive grease; TAKE out the grease coater; MAKE the
grease retain on the soft metal test piece.
B.5.2.3 COAT 2 test pieces using the method as specified in B.5.2.2.
B.5.2.4 PLACE the soft metal test piece coated with the tested grease
horizontally in a low temperature test chamber which is already at -40 °C ±
1 °C; KEEP it at a low temperature for 30 min ± 2 min; within 2 s, FOLD the test
piece for 180° with the grease centerline as axis, with the greased side of the
soft metal test piece facing outwards; OBSERVE the adhesion and
embrittlement of the grease.
B.6 Results report
B.6.1 If the oil film on the two pieces of soft metal is cracked or peeled off or
striped off, the flexibility test fails. If the oil films on the two pieces of soft metal
test pieces do not have embrittlement or peeling off, the flexibility test results
are reported as qualified.
B.6.2 If one piece of soft metal test piece has oil film embrittlement or peeling
off, BUT the other piece does not, REPEAT this test. If there is still
embrittlement or peeling off, it is reported as disqualified.
