Film Mounted Motor Vehicle Glass – Requirements for Mounting 1 Scope This Standard specifies the film mounted motor vehicle glass-requirements for mounting, including construction preparation and requirements, glass film-mounting steps and requirements, acceptance requirements, deliver use requirements... This Standard is applicable to the existing vehicle glass film-mounting construction process... 2 Normative References The following documents are essential to the application of this document. For the dated documents, only the versions with the dates indicated are applicable to this document; for the undated documents, only the latest version (including all the amendments) are applicable to this standard. GB/T 31849-2015 Film Mounted Motor Vehicle Glass 3 Terms and Definitions The following terms and definitions are applicable to this document. 3.1 Glass film mounting It indicates the mounting process of vehicle glass film. 4 Construction Preparation and Requirements 4.1 Requirements for constructors Constructors shall take the professional film-mounting skill training. Their clothes shall be neat, clean, generate no static force, no soft flocks, and have no buttons or sharp objects that may scratch the vehicle body. 4.2 Requirements for film Scissors shall be used for pre-cutting film, cutter knife and special gasket shall be used for fine-cutting film. 4.4.3 Installation liquid Installation liquid recommended by the film manufacturer shall be used. The major ingredients of the installation liquid indicate water and small amount of surfactant. The installation liquid shall be neutral, and contain no corrosive or toxic ingredients. 4.4.4 Heat gun Heat gun used during the constructing period shall meet the requirements of stable and adjustable outlet air flow and outlet air temperature. 4.4.5 Towel Towel used during the glass-film-mounting process shall be featured by large water-absorption, when meeting water, and wiping the smooth surface (such as glass, vehicle body paint surface, and vehicle interior surface, and etc.), there is no visible fiber shedding. 4.4.6 Other tools and articles Prepare the watering can, stainless steel scraper, waterproof shelter supplies, neutral glass cleaning fluid, and other tools and articles. 4.5 Vehicle preparation 4.5.1 Vehicle condition inspection Check whether the vehicle body has scratches, dents, deformation and other damage. Record and obtain the written confirmation from the owner for the founded defects and damages. 4.5.2 Glass inspection Check whether the to-be-film-mounted glass has cracks, bursts, scratches, and other defects. Record the founded defects and damages, and evaluate whether the glass is suitable for film-mounting, which shall obtain the written confirmation from the owner. When the glass cracks and bursts are serious, it is not suitable for film-mounting. If the to-be-film-mounted surface is organic material window glass, it is not suitable for film-mounting. 4.5.3 Dismantled accessories According to the actual needs, when dismantle the front windshield rearview mirror, and rear-window high brake light, it may influence or have adverse effect on the film-mounting process. The dismantled components shall not be damaged. 5.2.2 It is suitable for cutting the entire film. The film resulted from cutting shall be little larger than the dimension of to-be-film-mounted area, the front windshield and rear window shall be 20mm~30mm larger, side window shall be at least 10mm larger, all of which is for the purposes of heat-shaping shrink operation and post-phase finishing. 5.3 Heat-shrinkage shaping 5.3.1 Heat-shrinkage shaping of front windshield, and rear window glass film Heat-shrinkage shaping of front windshield and rear window glass film shall be operated as per the following steps and requirements. a) Place the to-be-cut-film on the glass in the way the release film is upward. Use the heat gun with temperature and outlet air amount adjustable; use dry & wet roasted method, locally shrink the front windshield and rear window glass used film, so that it has the same curvature with the glass. When roast the film, control the outlet air temperature of heat gun, and guarantee it heats uniformly, so as to avoid the too high temperature lead to glass bursting or glass edge trim burns; b) Use water scraping method, make the film obtained through roasting shrinkage shaping completely paste on the glass; c) If there is foam that is caused by the different curvature between film and glass, then continue roasting and shaping till the film shrinks to the degree of completely paste to the glass. 5.3.2 Heat-shrinkage shaping of side window film Generally the side window film needs not roasting, shrinking and shaping. If it needs roasting, shrinking and shaping, it can directly use the wet roasting method, make the film shrink to the degree of completely paste to the glass curvature. 5.4 Fine-cutting of film Cut the film edge to the proper position. After cutting, the film edge shall be flat and smooth. Open or close the side window, the distance between film and glass edge shall be 2mm~3mm; after closing, it shall not leak light. When the glass edge has black bars or spots, the distance between film edge and the glass inner edge black bars and spots shall be less than 1mm. The film that influences the wireless signal reception area shall be cut off, and set aside the function window. During the fine-cutting period, special blade shall be cooperated to use, the blade shall not leave any visible scratches on glass or heating wire surface. 5.5 Cleaning the inner surface of the glass Before film-mounting, clean the inner surface of the glass till there is no visible residual glue, grease, dust and other contaminants that may influence the film-mounting quality. 5.6 Film-mounting 5.6.1 Eliminating release film When eliminate the release film, it shall not cause creases, indentations, tear and other damages. 5.6.2 Film positioning Spray proper amount of installation liquid on the glass and film contact surface. Place the film on the inner surface of the glass, and move it to the predetermined position. During the positioning period, never press the film surface with strong force, so that avoid the too thorough adhesion, and the glue transferring phenomenon during the moving period. 5.6.3 Water wiping 5.6.3.1 Water wiping of front windshield and side window During the water wiping of front windshield and side window, use the rubber or plastic materials of wiper. Wipe the water thoroughly between the film and the glass along the horizontal direction, the wiper tracks of every two water wiping shall have 50% above overlapping. After water wiping, the film surface shall not leave the scratches of the wiper, the contact surface between wiper and film can be protected by release film, towel, and nonwoven fabric. 5.6.3.2 Water wiping of rear window The operating mode of water wiping of rear window can refer to Clause 5.6.3.1. When the rear window is equipped with heating wires, during the water wiping, increase the vertical-direction water wiping steps, make the wiper wipe eve... ......
