Foreword
This document is drafted in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020
"Directives for standardization - Part 1: Rules for the structure and drafting of
standardizing documents".
This document replaces GB/T 19367-2009 "Determination of dimensions of wood-
based panels". Compared with GB/T 19367-2009, in addition to structural adjustments
and editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows:
a) ADD terms and definitions (see Chapter 3);
b) DELETE the principles, sampling, moisture content and balance processing of the
plate during measurement (see Chapters 3, 4, 5, 6 of the 2009 edition);
c) ADD the diagonal method for squareness determination (see 4.4.2);
d) CHANGE the length measurement position (see 4.2; 8.2 of the 2009 edition);
e) CHANGE the flatness determination (see 4.6; 8.5 of the 2009 edition);
f) CHANGE the thickness accuracy requirements (see 5.2; 9.1 of the 2009 edition).
This document modifies and adopts ISO 9426:2003 "Wood-based panels -
Determination of dimensions of panels".
Compared with ISO 9426:2003, this document has many structural adjustments. See
Appendix A for a list of structure number comparisons between the two documents.
Compared with ISO 9426:2003, this document has many technical differences. The
involved clauses are marked with a vertical single line (│) in the outer margin of the
page. A list of these technical differences and their causes is provided in Appendix B.
The following editorial changes have been made to this document:
a) In order to coordinate with the existing standards, CHANGE the name of the
standard into "Determination of dimensions of wood-based panels";
b) ADD note to Figure 3;
c) ADD informative appendix A and appendix B.

This document was proposed by the State Forestry and Grassland Administration.
Determination of dimensions of wood-based panels
1 Scope
This document describes methods for the determination of length, width, thickness,
squareness, edge straightness, flatness of wood-based panels.
This document is applicable to the dimensional determination of wood-based panels.
2 Normative references
The contents of the following documents constitute essential provisions of this
document through normative references in the text. Among them, for dated reference
documents, only the version corresponding to the date applies to this document; for
undated reference documents, the latest version (including all amendments) applies to
this document.
JB/T 12202-2015 Wedge feeler gauge
3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1
Squareness
The degree to which the distance between the edge of the panel and the edge of the
right angle (δ1, see Figure 1), or the four corners of the rectangular wood-based panel
form precise right angles.
the panel (see Figure 1). Then measure with one arm against the other side of the corner
of the panel. The results are expressed as the ratio of the distance to the arm length of
the mechanical square, in millimeters per meter (mm/m). Follow the same method as
above for other angles; take the maximum value.
4.4.2 Method 2
Use a steel tape measure (4.1.2), to measure the two diagonal lengths and opposite side
lengths of the panel, accurate to 1 mm. Calculate the diagonal difference and opposite
side difference, respectively. The results are expressed as diagonal difference and
opposite side difference, accurate to 1 mm.
4.5 Determination of edge straightness
Use a steel ruler (4.1.5) close to the edge of a panel, OR straighten a metal wire (4.1.6)
which is placed on two adjacent corners of the panel. According to the measurement
range, choose a steel ruler, feeler gauge (4.1.7), wedge feeler gauge (4.1.8) or vernier
caliper (4.1.3), to measure the maximum distance between the steel ruler or straightened
metal wire and the edge of the panel. The result is expressed as the ratio of the maximum
distance to the length of the panel edge, in millimeters per meters (mm/m). Other panel
edges are measured in the same way as above.
Note: If the length of the edge of the panel is less than 1000 mm, use a steel ruler; if the length
is greater than 1000 mm, use a metal wire.
4.6 Determination of flatness
Place the panel on a horizontal surface without any external force. Measure the distance
between the entire surface of the tested panel and the straightened metal wire. Find the
surface distance between the metal wire and the maximum deformation point of the
panel. Use a steel ruler (4.1.5) to make measurement. The result is expressed as the ratio
of the measured value to the diagonal of the panel, in millimeters per meter (mm/m).
5 Result expression
5.1 Length and width
For each tested panel, calculate the arithmetic mean of the measured values representing
the length and width respectively, accurate to 1 mm.
5.2 Thickness
For each tested panel, calculate the arithmetic mean of each measurement value,
accurate to 0.01 mm.
5.3 Squareness
Method 1: The result is the maximum measured value of the deviation between the edge
of the square and the edge of the panel, expressed in millimeters per meter of length,
accurate to 0.5 mm/m.
Method 2: The result is expressed as diagonal difference and opposite side difference,
accurate to 1 mm.
5.4 Edge straightness
The result is the maximum spacing divided by the length of that side, expressed in
millimeters per meter (mm/m). The width and length of the panel are expressed
separately.
5.5 Flatness
The results are expressed as the ratio of the maximum deformation value to the diagonal
of the panel, expressed in millimeters per meter (mm/m).
