GB 6675 consists of the following parts, under the general title Safety of Toys. ۛ Basic Code (GB 6675.1); ۛ General requirements, including but not limited to Mechanical and Physical Properties (GB 6675.2), Flammability (GB 6675.3) and Migration of Certain Elements (GB 6675.4); ۛ Specific requirements, i.e. requirements specific to certain products. This Part is Migration of Certain Elements (GB 6675.4) of the general requirements of the serial standards under the general title Safety of Toys, which shall be used in combination with GB 6675.1, GB 6675.2, GB 6675.3 and GB 19865 (applicable to electric toys). This Part was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009. This Part partly replaces GB 6675-2003, National Safety Technical Code for Toys. Compared with 4.3 and Annex C of GB 6675-2003, the major changes of this Part are as follows. ‐‐ It adds special requirements for accessible coatings and accessible liquids, pastes, gels (e.g. liquid paints, modelling compounds) (see 1.3). ‐‐ It adds the definitions of paper and paperboard (see 3.5). -- It uses n-heptane to replace 1,1,1- methyl chloroform as the extraction solvent for oils; all 1,1,1-methyl chloroforms in other relevant articles are replaced by n- heptane (see 6.1.6, 8.7, 8.8 and 8.9). -- It lists some examples for explaining the preparation procedure of test portions in test report (see Article 10 e)). -- It deletes the method for determination of acidity of 1,1,1-methyl chloroform (see Annex A.C of edition 2003). -- It changes the guideline for choosing the procedure for preparation and extraction of test portions from illustration to representation (see Annex B; Annex C.C of edition 2003). -- It modifies and supplements to a large extent background and rationale (see Annex C). -- It adds reference recommendations for some test conditions and parameters (see Annex D). This Part was redrafted by modifying and adopting ISO 8124-3.2010, Safety of Toys – Part 3. Migration of Certain Elements. The technical differences between this Part and ISO 8124-3.2010 and their reasons are as follows. -- with regard to normative references, some adjustments containing technical differences are made in this Part to suit the technical conditions of China. The adjustments are concentrated in “Normative References” of Article 2, including. • GB 6675.2 which has modified and adopted national standards is used to replace ISO 8124-1; • GB/T 6682 which has modified and adopted national standards is used to replace ISO 3696.1987; -- the maximum acceptable levels of migration of elements in modelling clays and finger paints in GB 6675.4 are different, while the maximum acceptable levels of migration of elements in modelling clays and finger paints in ISO 8124-3 are the same. The following editorial modification is made in this Part. -- Annex D (informative) is added. This Part was proposed by China National Light Industry Council. This Part shall be under the jurisdiction of the National Standardization Technical Committee on Toys (SAC/TC 253). The drafting organizations of this Part. Shenzhen Academy of Metrology and Quality Inspection, Guangdong Alpha Cartoon Culture Co., Ltd., Shenzhen Intertek Quality and Technical Services Co., Ltd., Shenzhen Pinefield Chemical Co., Ltd./Manfield Coatings Co., Ltd., Goodbabay Children Products Co., Ltd., Guangdong Inspection and Quarantine Technology Center Toy Laboratory, Guangdong Shantou Supervision and Testing Institute of Quality and Metrology, Beijing Certification Centre of Light Industry Council, Zhejiang Supervision and Testing Institute of Quality and Technology, Pony Testing Technology (Beijing) Co., Ltd.. The main drafters of this Part. Xie Yueliang, Yang Wanying, Huang Lina, Wang Long, Wang Xueqin, Chen Xiaohua, Lei Zaiming, Fang Yuming, Zhang Shi, Chen Xiaozhen. The previous editions of the standard replaced by this Part are as follows. -- GB 6675-1986, GB 6675-2003. Safety of Toys – Part 4. Migration of Certain Elements 1 Application Scope 1.1 This Part of GB 6675 specifies maximum acceptable levels and methods of sampling and extraction prior to analysis for the migration of the elements antimony, arsenic, barium, cadmium, chromium, lead, mercury and selenium from toy materials and from parts of toys. 1.2 Maximum acceptable levels are specified for the migration of the elements from the following toy materials. ۛ coatings of paints, varnishes, lacquers, printing inks, polymers and similar coatings (see 8.1); ۛ polymeric and similar materials, including laminates, whether textile-reinforced or not, but excluding other textiles and non-woven textiles (see 8.2); ۛ paper and paperboard, up to a maximum mass per unit area of 400 g/m2 (see 8.3); ۛ natural, artificial or synthetic textiles (see 8.4); ۛ glass/ceramic/metallic materials, excepting lead solder when used for electrical connections (see 8.5); ۛ other materials, whether mass-coloured or not (e.g. wood, fibreboard, hardboard, bone and leather) (see 8.6); ۛ materials intended to leave a trace (e.g. the graphite materials in pencils and liquid ink in pens) (see 8.7); ۛ pliable modelling materials, including modelling clays and gels (see 8.8); ۛ paints to be used as such in the toy, including finger paints, varnishes, lacquers, glazing powders and similar materials in solid or liquid form (see 8.9). 1.3 The requirements in this Part apply to the following toys and toy components of toys and toy materials (see C.2.1... ......
