Foreword

This document was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2020, “Directives for standardization - Part 1.Rules for the structure and drafting of standardizing documents”. This Standard replaces GB 5749-2006 “Standards for drinking water quality”; compared with GB 5749-2006, in addition to structural adjustments and editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows. a) Adjust the water quality indices from 106 items in GB 5749-2006 to 97 items, including 43 regular indices and 54 expanded indices (see Chapter 4). Where. ● Add 4 indices, including perchlorate, acetochlor, 2-methylisoborneol, and geosmin; ● Delete 13 indices, including thermotolerant coliforms, trichloroacetaldehyde, sulfide, cyanogen chloride (in CN-), benzex (total), parathion, parathion- methyl, lindane, DDT, formaldehyde, 1,1,1-trichloroethane, 1,2- dichlorobenzene, ethylbenzene; ● Change the names of 3 indices, including changing the name of oxygen consumption (CODMn method, in O2) to permanganate index (in O2), the name of ammonia nitrogen (in N) to ammonia (in N), and the name of 1,2- dichloroethylene to 1,2-dichloroethylene (total); ● Change the limit values of 8 indices, including nitrate (in N), turbidity, permanganate index (in O2), free chlorine, boron, vinyl chloride, trichloroethylene and dimethoate; ● Add the specific requirements for the radionuclide analysis and evaluation of the total beta radioactivity index and the application of the microcystin-LR index; ● Delete the provisional regulations on water quality indices and limit values for small centralized water supply and decentralized water supply (see Chapter 4 of the 2006 edition). b) Adjust the water quality reference indices from 28 items in GB 5749-2006 to 55 items (see Appendix A). Where. ● Add 29 indices, including vanadium, benzex (total), parathion, parathion- methyl, lindane, DDT, trichlorfon, thiophanate-methyl, isoprothiolane, trifluralin, metalaxyl, simetryne, acephate, formaldehyde, trichloroacetaldehyde, cyanogen chloride (in CN-), nitrosodimethylamine, iodoacetic acid, 1,1,1-trichloroethane, ethylbenzene, 1,2-dichlorobenzene, Perfluorooctanoic acid, PFOS, dimethyl disulfide, dimethyl trisulfide, iodide, sulfide, uranium and radium-226; ● Delete 2 indices, including 2-methylisoborneol and geosmin; ● Change the names of 3 indices, including the name of acetylene dibromide to 1,2-dibromoethane, the name of nitrite to nitrite (in N), and the name of asbestos ( >10 μm) to asbestos (fiber > 10 μm); ● Change the limit value of 1 index, which is petroleum (total). Standards for drinking water quality

1 Scope

This document specifies the water quality requirements for drinking water, the water quality requirements for sources of drinking water, the hygienic requirements for centralized water supply units, the hygienic requirements for secondary water supply, the hygienic requirements for products involving the sanitation and safety of drinking water, and the inspection methods for water quality. This document applies to all types of drinking water.

The following documents, in whole or in part, are normatively referenced in this document and are indispensable for its application. For dated references, only the version corresponding to that date is applicable to this document; for undated references, the latest version (including all amendments) is applicable to this document. GB 3838, Environmental quality standards for surface water GB/T 5750.1 ~ GB/T 5750.13, Standard examination methods for drinking water GB/T 14848-2017, Standard for groundwater quality GB 17051, Hygienic specification for facilities of secondary water supply GB/T 17218-1998, Hygienic safety evaluation for chemicals used in drinking water treatment GB/T 17219-1998, Standard for Safety Evaluation of Equipment and Protective Materials in Drinking Water

3 Terms and definitions

The following terms and definitions are applicable to this document. 3.1 drinking water Drinking water and water for human life. 3.2 centralized water supply The water supply method of collecting water from the water source centrally, and transporting it to users or public water supply points through the water transport and distribution network. 3.3 small centralized water supply Centralized water supply with a designed daily water supply below 1 000 m3 or a water supply population below 10 000. 3.4 decentralized water supply The water supply method where users draw water directly from the water source, without any treatment or with treatment by simple facilities only. 3.5 finished water The water that is about to enter the water transport and distribution network after the treatment process completed by the centralized water supply unit. 3.6 tap water The finished water that is transported to the user's faucet through the water transport and distribution network.

4 Water quality requirements for drinking water

4.1 The drinking water quality shall meet the following basic requirements to ensure the safety of drinking. 4.2 The drinking water quality shall meet the requirements in Table 1 and Table 3.The limit value and residual amount of disinfectant in both finished water and tap water shall meet the requirements in Table 2.

5 Water quality requirements for sources of drinking water

5.1 When surface water is used as the source of drinking water, the water quality of the source shall meet the requirements of GB 3838. 5.3 Where the water quality of the water source cannot meet the requirements of 5.1 or 5.2, it should not be used as a source of drinking water. However, when it needs to be used but limited by conditions, the corresponding water purification process shall be used for treatment, and the water quality after treatment shall meet the requirements of this document.

6 Hygienic requirements for centralized water supply units

7 Hygienic requirements for secondary water supply

The facilities and treatment requirements for secondary water supply shall comply with the provisions of GB 17051.

8 Hygienic requirements for products involving the sanitation

and safety of drinking water 8.1 Chemical treatment agents such as flocculation, coagulation aid, disinfection, oxidation, adsorption, pH adjustment, rust prevention, and scale inhibition used in the treatment of drinking water shall not pollute drinking water, and shall comply with the provisions of Chapter 3 in GB/T 17218-1998; disinfectants and disinfection equipment shall comply with the requirements in "Sanitary and Safety Evaluation Specification for Drinking Water Disinfectants and Disinfection Equipment (Trial)". 8.2 The water transport and distribution equipment, protective materials and water treatment materials for drinking water shall not pollute the drinking water, and shall comply with the provisions in Chapter 3 of GB/T 17219-1998.

9 Inspection methods for water quality

The general principles and requirements for each parameter of water quality inspection shall be in accordance with GB/T 5750.1; the collection and preservation of water samples shall be carried out in accordance with GB/T 5750.2;
