1 General provisions
1.0.1 This Code is formulated with a view of implementing the national
technical and economic policies, and achieving advanced technology, safety
reliability, economic rationality, quality assurance and environmental protection
in the appraisal and strengthening of existing building slope engineering.
1.0.2 This Code is applicable to the appraisal and strengthening of existing
building slope engineering and rock excavation slope, with a rock slope height
of 30m and below and a soil slope height of 15m and below.
The slope strengthening engineering exceeding the above heights and that with
complex geological and environmental conditions shall, in addition to the
conformity with this Code, be specially designed. In addition, effective and
reliable measures for strengthening shall be taken accordingly.
1.0.3 Not only the requirements stipulated in this Code, but also those
stipulated in the corresponding current national professional standards shall be
complied with, during the appraisal and strengthening of building slope
engineering in soft soil, collapsible loess, frozen soil, expansive soil and other
special geotechnical and erosive environments, and post-disaster building
slope engineering in seismic areas.
1.0.4 Not only the requirements stipulated in this Code, but also those
stipulated in the corresponding current national standards shall be complied
with, during the appraisal and strengthening of existing building slope
engineering.
2 Terms and symbols
2.1 Terms
2.1.1 Building slope
Artificial slopes formed on or near the construction sites or due to excavation or
filling of building engineering and municipal engineering; natural slopes that
affect the safety or stability of buildings, hereinafter referred to as slope in this
Code.
2.1.2 Existing building slope engineering
The whole or part of the completed building slope engineering.
2.1.7 Target working life
Expected years of use of the existing building slope engineering.
2.1.8 Inspection
Checking, surveying, testing and verification activities for the assessment of
construction quality or performance.
2.1.10 Sub-system
Basic appraisal unit in the appraisal unit, subdivided in accordance with different
composing forms of the retaining structure.
2.1.11 Member
Basic stress unit that can be further subdivided in the retaining structure.
2.2 Symbols
2.2.5 Appraisal
As, Bs, Cs - Normal usability grade of the sub-systems;
Ass, Bss, Css - Normal usability grade of the appraisal units;
Asu, Bsu, Csu, Dsu - Safety grade of the appraisal units;
Au, Bu, Cu, Du - Safety grade of the sub-systems;
as, bs, cs - Normal usability grade of the members;
au, bu, cu, du - Safety grade of the members.
3 Basic requirements
3.1 General requirements
3.1.1 The design of the strengthening of existing building slope engineering
shall adopt the method of information design, and shall meet the relevant
requirements of the current national standard GB 50330 Technical code for
building slope engineering.
3.2 Appraisal of slope engineering
3.2.1 The appraisal of slope engineering is applicable to the appraisal on
safety, normal usability, durability and construction quality of the building slope
engineering.
3.3 Slope engineering strengthening design
3.3.1 The slope engineering in the following cases shall be conducted with
strengthening design.
3.3.2 During the design of slope strengthening engineering, the following
information shall be obtained.
4 Geological investigation of slope strengthening engineering
4.1 General requirements
4.1.1 Before strengthening, the existing building slope engineering shall
be conducted with geological investigation of slope strengthening
engineering.
4.1.4 The existing slope strengthening engineering may be directly conducted
with detailed stages of investigation.
4.1.5 The geological investigation report of the slope strengthening
engineering shall include the following contents.
4.2 Geological investigation of slope
4.2.2 In addition to be consistent with the relevant requirements of current
national standards GB 50021 Code for investigation of geotechnical
engineering and GB 50330 Technical code for building slope engineering, the
geological investigation of slope strengthening engineering shall still focus on
ascertaining the following contents.
4.2.3 The investigation methods and layout of the slope strengthening
engineering shall meet the following requirements. according to the
investigation grade of slope engineering and the signs of deformation
4.3 Stability assessment of slope
4.3.1 On the basis of fully identifying the engineering geological conditions,
the slope strengthening engineering shall be conducted with the stability
assessment according to the rock-soil type and possible failure modes of the
slope as well as the characteristics and functions of the retaining structures.
4.4.5 The effective resistance of the original retaining structure and the
geotechnical physico-mechanical indices provided by the appraisal report of
slope engineering shall be reasonably utilized.
5 Appraisal of slope engineering
5.1 General requirements
5.1.1 Before strengthening, the existing building slope engineering shall
be conducted with slope engineering appraisal.
5.1.3 The normal usability appraisal of slope engineering may be carried out
in the following cases.
5.2 Procedures and contents of appraisal
5.2.1 The appraisal of slope engineering may be carried out according to the
procedures in Figure 5.2.1.
5.2.2 The initial investigation should include the following work contents.
5.2.4 Detailed investigation and inspection should select the following work
contents according to the actual needs.
5.3 Investigation and inspection
5.3.1 The investigation and inspection of the working conditions shall include
three parts, namely actions, service environments and use history of slope
engineering. During investigation, the possible changes in working conditions
within the target working life shall be taken into consideration.
5.5.8 The slope engineering, constructed by using the slope ratio method,
shall be divided into several appraisal units according to the geological
characteristics, height and serviced life of slope engineering, so as to
investigate the degree of weathering of exposed rock-soil mass as well as the
cracks and damage degree of local mass materials in each appraisal unit.
5.6 Sub-system appraisal
5.6.1 The safety appraisal of retaining structure subgrade and foundation
shall meet the requirements of Annex B in this Code.
5.7 Appraisal of appraisal unit
5.7.1 The stability appraisal of the appraisal units shall meet the requirements
of Annex C in this Code.
5.7.3 The usability appraisal of the appraisal units shall meet the following
requirements.
6 Slope strengthening engineering calculation
6.1 General requirements
6.1.1 The calculation of existing slope strengthening engineering shall meet
the relevant requirements of current national standard GB 50330 Technical
code for building slope engineering,
6.2 Calculation principle
6.2.1 The calculation of slope strengthening engineering shall meet the
following requirements.
6.2.3 During strengthening design of slope engineering, the effective
resistance of original retaining structure or member may be calculated based
on the geometric dimensions and material properties of original retaining
structure member and according to the relevant requirements of current
national standards GB 50330 Technical code for building slope engineering and
GB 50010 Code for design of concrete structures.
6.2.5 When the force transferring path is changed or the mass of the retaining
structure is increased after strengthening of slope engineering, the relevant
retaining structures, members and subgrade foundation shall be checked as
necessary.
6.3 Parameters for calculation
6.3.1 During strengthening by using the anchoring method, the resistance
coefficient of exertion of new anchor and force transferring structure, ζL, should
be adopted based on the retaining mode of slope engineering and safety grade
of appraisal units, in accordance with Table 6.3.1.
6.3.3 During strengthening by structure member strengthening with R.C, the
bearing capacity calculation of the strengthened slope retaining structure
member and the values of relevant parameters shall meet the relevant
requirements of current national standards GB 50367 Code for design of
strengthening concrete structure and GB 50702 Code for design of
strengthening masonry structures.
7 Slope engineering strengthening method
7.1 General requirements
7.1.1 The strengthening methods of existing building slope engineering may
be divided into cut unloading at top of slope, back loading at toe of slope,
anchoring method, slide-resistant pile method, structure member strengthening
with R.C, grouting method, cut-off and draining method, etc. Other locally
mature, reliable and effective strengthening methods may also be available.
7.2 Cut unloading at top of slope
7.2.1 The cut unloading at top of slope is mainly used for the strengthening
when the overall stability of the slope and the stability of the retaining structures
do not meet the requirements.
7.2.4 The slope formed after cut unloading at top of slope may be treated by
the slope ratio method, retaining and slope protection, and shall meet the
following requirements.
7.3 Back loading at toe of slope
7.4 Anchoring method
7.4.1 The anchoring method is applicable to the strengthening when the
overall stability of the slope with anchorage conditions and the bearing capacity
of the anti-sliding, anti-overturning retaining structures and members do not
meet the requirements.
7.4.5 The anchors in the anchoring method shall meet the following
requirements.
7.8 Cut-off and draining method
7.8.1 When deformation and instability of slope engineering are directly
related to slope ponding, the cut-off and draining method should be used for
strengthening of slope engineering.
8 Slope strengthening engineering
8.1 General requirements
8.1.1 The selection of the strengthening schemes for existing slope
engineering should consider the following factors.
8.1.2 According to the failure mode, causes, construction safety and feasibility
of slope engineering as well as the field conditions, the strengthening of slope
engineering may be combined by one or more strengthening methods.
8.2 Anchor retaining wall strengthening
8.2.1 One or more of the following methods may be used for anchor retaining
wall strengthening.
8.2.3 The use of slide-resistant pile method shall meet the following
requirements.
8.3.4 The use of slide-resistant pile method shall meet the following
requirements.
8.4 Pile retaining wall strengthening
8.7.3 Other strengthening requirements of the retaining structure subgrade
and foundation shall meet the relevant requirements of current industry
standard JGJ 123 Technical code for improvement of soil and foundation of
existing buildings.
9 Monitoring of slope engineering
9.1 General requirements
9.1.1 When the slope strengthening construction may cause greater
deformation or damage to the protected objects, the strengthened slope
and the projected objects shall be monitored.
9.1.6 Slope monitoring shall be undertaken by two or more monitoring
personnel. When the measurement accuracy of the monitoring instrument is
related to the monitoring personnel, the monitoring personnel shall be fixed.
9.2 Monitoring
9.2.1 The monitoring scheme shall include the monitoring purposes,
monitoring items, method and accuracy requirements, measuring point layout,
alarm values for monitoring items, information feedback system, site original
state records, etc.
9.2.9 The stress monitoring of the retaining structure members shall meet the
following requirements.
