Foreword

This Standard was drafted as per the rules specified in GB/T 1.1-2009. This Standard replaced XB/T 104-2010 Monazite Concentrate. The major technical changes between this Standard and XB/T 104-2010 are as follows. --- Modify the normative references; delete YB/T 5142, and add GBZ 139, GB 5750.13, GB 11806, and GB 18871; --- Add character-designation of the product; --- Add content range of product U3O8; --- Add content range of product P2O5; --- Add control range of the total radioactive activity index of the product; --- Add detection method for the total radioactive activity of the product; --- Add raw material traceability identification (the specific name of the production mine must be indicated); --- Add product transportation requirements; --- Add storage requirements. This Standard was proposed by and shall be under the jurisdiction of National Technical Committee on Rare Earth of Standardization Administration of China (SAC/TC 229). Chief drafting organizations of this Standard. Hunan Rare Earth Metal Materials Research Institute; Yiyang Hongyuan Rare Earth Co., Ltd.; and Ganzhou Qiangdong Rare Earth Group Co., Ltd. 1 Scope

This Standard specifies the requirements, test methods, inspection rules and marking, packaging, transportation, storage and quality certificates for monazite concentrate. This Standard applies to dry monazite concentrate obtained from placer beneficiation and enrichment, which is used for the extraction of rare earth metals and their compounds and the extraction of thorium.

3 Requirements

3.1 Chemical composition The chemical composition of the product shall comply with the provisions in Table 1.If the purchaser has special requirements, the supplier and purchaser can negotiate separately. 3.3 Appearance

4.1 Chemical composition 4.2 Total radioactivity The detection method of the total radioactive activity of the product shall be carried out in accordance with GB/T 5750.13. 4.3 Appearance quality Product appearance quality is visually inspected.

5 Inspection Rules

5.1 Inspection and acceptance 5.2 Batching Products of the same designation shall be submitted for inspection in batches. 5.3 Inspection items Each batch of products shall be inspected for chemical composition and appearance quality. 5.4 Sampling and sample preparation The arbitration sampling quantity shall be as specified in Table 2.Each batch of products is sampled by the intubation method (inner diameter 10mm, 1/3 slotted tube); and the sample size of each bag is no less than 100g. After the sample is thoroughly mixed, it is quickly divided into the required amount of the sample using the quartering method; put it into the sample bag and seal it. 5.5 Judgment of inspection results 5.5.1 If the arbitration analysis results of any of the chemical composition and total radioactivity do not comply with the provisions of this Standard, double quantity of the samples will be taken from the batch of products to conduct re-inspection of the unqualified items. If the unqualified items are still unqualified, then the batch of products is judged to be unqualified.

6 Marking, Packaging, Transportation, Storage and Quality Certificate

6.1 Marking and packaging 6.1.1 There shall be a color-fast and obvious mark on the outside of the packaging barrel (pack) stating. 6.1.2 The inner packaging of the product is in a plastic bag, which is sealed by hot pressing or rope-tying. The net weight of each piece is 50kg; the outer packaging is an iron can. 6.2 Transportation and Storage The product must be protected from rain during transportation and must be stored in a dry place. It must not be placed in the open air. 6.3 Quality certificate Each batch of products shall be accompanied by a quality certificate, stating.
