Electric vehicle conductive charge coupler

1 Scope

This standard specifies the terminology and definition, technical parameters, charging mode, classification and functional definition, structural dimensions, performance requirements, test methods and inspection rules for the conductive charge coupler of electric vehicles. The standard specifies two kinds of charge couplers. one is to provide AC power supply to the on-board charger AND the other is to provide DC power supply to the electric vehicles. This standard applies to the charging cables of AC rated voltage 220 V AND DC rated voltage not exceeding 750 V which are used for the electric vehicles as well as the conductive charge coupler used at the connection side of the electric vehicle; the conductive charge coupler used between the charging cable and the off-board charging equipment or AC power supply can make reference to this standard.

2 Normative references

The provisions in following documents become the provisions of this Standard through reference in this Standard. For the dated references, the subsequent amendments (excluding corrections) or revisions do not apply to this Standard; however, parties who reach an agreement based on this Standard are encouraged to study if the latest versions of these documents are applicable. For undated references, the latest edition of the referenced document applies. 3 Terms and definitions

The following terms and definitions as established in GB/T 18487.1, GB/T 19596 and GB/T 20234 AND the following terms and definitions apply to this standard. 3.1 Charge coupler It refers to the charging parts used to connect the mobile cables and electric vehicles, which is composed of the connector and inlet. 3.2 Conductive charge It refers to the method of charging the electric vehicle through electric conduction. 3.3 Terminal It refers to the conductive part which can form the electrical path after the connector is plugging into the inlet.

4 Technical parameters

4.1 Nominal value of the charge coupler The nominal values of the electrical parameters shall be in accordance with GB/T 156. 4.1.1 Rated voltage. 0 to 36V (for signal and control purposes only); 220V (AC); 400V (DC); 750V (DC)

5 Charging mode of electric vehicle

5.1 Charging mode 1.When the electric vehicle is connected to the AC power grid, the connector and inlet which complies with the GB 2099.1 that the rated current is not less than 16A are used at the power side, the phase line, neutral line, and grounding protection conductor are used at the power side, AND the leakage protector is used at the power side. 5.3 Charging mode 3.When the electric vehicle is connected to the AC grid, a dedicated power supply is used to directly connect the electric vehicle to the AC power grid; AND on the dedicated power equipment is installed with the control guiding device. 5.4 Charging mode 4.When the electric vehicle is connected to the AC grid, an off-board charger is used to indirectly connect the electric vehicle to the AC

6 Classification and function definition of charger

coupler 6.1 Classification of charge coupler This standard specifies two kinds of charge couplers. 6.2 Functions of charge coupler 6.2.1 AC Charge coupler classification. 6.2.2 DC charge coupler function. 6.2.2.1 Electrical parameter value and function definition. The DC charge coupler contains 9 pairs of terminals, the electrical parameters and function definitions of which are as shown in Table 3.

7 Charge coupler structure size

As for the structure size of the AC charge coupler and the DC charge coupler, SEE Appendix C.

8 Requirements

8.1 Structural requirements 8.1.1 The surfaces easily contacted by the connector and the inlet shall be free from burrs, flashings or similar sharp edges. 8.1.4 The terminals of the connector and the inlet shall be marked with the symbol as specified in 4.2. 8.1.5 After the inlet is installed on the electric vehicle, its marking of the rated voltage and the rated current shall be easily identifiable. 8.1.6 Color marking of charging mode. In the distinct area of the connector (e.g. the control button surface of the locking device), it shall use different colors to represent different charging modes. 8.1.7 Locking device. The charge coupler shall have a lockout function to prevent accidental disconnection during charging process. In the locked state, when applying twice of the pull-out force of the force as specified in 8.1.10, the connection shall not be disengaged AND the lockout device shall not be damaged. 8.1.8 Charging cable specifications and their connections. 8.1.10 Insertion and pull-out force. 8.1.11 Breaking capacity. 8.2.5 Corrosion resistance. When the metallic parts of the connector and the inlet are subjected to the corrosion resistance performance test in accordance with the test methods as specified in 9.15, the metallic surface shall be free from apparent corrosion. 8.2.6 Insulation resistance. When the terminals of the connector and the inlet as well as the terminal and other metallic parts are subjected to the insulation resistance test in accordance with the test methods as specified in 9.16, the insulation resistance shall not exceed 10 MΩ. 8.2.7 Insulation voltage withstanding performance. When the terminals of the connector and the inlet as well as the terminal and other metallic parts are subjected to the insulation voltage withstanding performance test in accordance with the test methods as specified in 9.17, the insulation shall not be broken down.

9 Test methods

9.1 General provisions 9.1.1 Environmental conditions. Unless otherwise stated, the test shall be conducted at an ambient temperature of 18 °C ~ 28 °C, a relative humidity of 45% ~ 75%, AND an atmospheric pressure of 86 kPa ~ 106 kPa. 9.2 Visual inspection USE the visual inspection method to conduct appearance inspection against the connector and the inlet. 9.3 Locking device test ENGAGE the connector and the inlet, and MAKE the locking device be at the lockout state; APPLY the pull-out force as specified in 8.1.7; CHECK the function of the locking device. 9.4 Charging cable test CHECK the appearance of the charging cable conductors. 9.5 Terminal test 9.6 Insertion and pull-out force test USE instrument (such as the spring scale and weight, etc.) to test the insertion and pull-out force between the power connector and the power inlet, and vehicle connector and vehicle inlet. 9.7 Breaking capacity test CONDUCT the breaking capacity test in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 20 of GB/T 11918-2001.The breaking capacity as shown in Table 6 (replacing the Table 6 of GB/T 119 18-2001) is the breaking capacity test parameters. 9.8 Protection degree test CONDUCT the protection degree test in accordance with the provisions of GB 4208. 9.18 Service life test After the connector and the inlet finished insertion & pull-out test and temperature rise test, under the conditions of maintaining the rated voltage supply from the power equipment to the connector, ......
