This Standard applies to material identification and marking of automotive plastic with the mass exceeding 100 g, rubber with the mass exceeding 200 g and thermoplastic elastomer parts, this Standard does not apply to identification and marking of automotive tires. If an appropriate symbol or abbreviated term is not included in any of this part of this Standard, such a symbol or abbreviated term from any available national or international standard shall be used.5 Technical requirements for identification symbols5.1 Marking system 5.1.1 Identification format. It shall use appropriate symbol(s) or abbreviated term(s) to mark materials of plastic products, rubber and thermoplastic elastomer parts. The material identification shall be set between the punctuation marks ��>�� and ��< ��. 5.1.2 Single-constituent product identification. Products made from a single polymer or copolymer shall be marked as specified in 5.1.1. 5.1.3 Polymer blends or alloys product identification. Products made from polymer blends or alloys shall be marked with the appropriate abbreviated terms of constituent polymers, with the main component in first place followed by the other components in descending order according to their mass fractions, separated by one or more plus signs, the marking shall be in accordance with the format in 5.1.1. 5.1.4 Identification of products with special additives. 5.1.4.1 Filling and reinforcing materials. Products with a single filling or reinforcing material shall be marked with the abbreviated term for the polymer, followed by a hyphen, then the abbreviated term or symbol for the additive, indicating their mass fractions, the marking shall be in accordance with the format in 5.1.1. 5.1.4.2 Plasticizers Compositions containing plasticizers shall be marked with the abbreviated term for the polymer followed by a hyphen, then the symbol ��P�� followed by the abbreviated term of the plasticizer in parentheses, as given in GB/T 1844.3. 5.1.5 Identification of rubber and thermoplastic elastomer products.
