Foreword

This Standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009. This Standard replaces GB/T 2101-2008, General Requirement of Acceptance, Packaging, Marking and Certification for Section Steel. Compared with GB/T 2101- 2008, the major changes of this Standard are as follows. -- the terms are added; -- the evaluation method for impact test results is added; -- the inspection rules for section steel is modified; -- the specifications for packaging are modified; -- the packaging requirements for silver steel are deleted; -- the specifications for marking are modified; -- the specifications for storage and transportation are added; -- the content specified for quality certification is modified. This Standard was proposed by China Iron and Steel Industry Association. This Standard shall be under the jurisdiction of National Technical Committee 183 on Steels of Standardization Administration of China. The drafting organizations of this Standard. HBIS Group TangSteel Company, China Metallurgical Information and Standardization Institute, Shougang Group, Anshan Baode Iron and Steel Co., Ltd., Sichuan Desheng Group Vanadium-Titanium Co., Ltd., Hebei Jinxi Iron and Steel Group Co., Ltd. 1 Application Scope

This Standard specifies the terms and definitions, inspection rules and general specifications for packaging, marking, storage, transportation and quality certification of section steels (including billet, steel rod, reinforcing steel bar and steel wire rod). This Standard applies to hot-rolled, cold-drawn (rolled), forged and heat-treated steels.

3 Terms and Definitions

For the purposes of this Standard, the following terms and definitions apply. 3.1 packaging The activity of applying certain technical methods during the process of using materials and auxiliaries in order to protect products, facilitate storage and transportation and promote sales during the process of circulation. 3.2 label The product of paper or other materials fixed on packages, on which the content is marked including product name, furnace/batch number, designation, specification and manufacturer. 3.3 tap A movable label which is fixed to packages or products using iron wire, staple bolt, hobnail and so on. 3.4 mark The method or content which identifies the characteristics of steels. 3.5 strapping The flexible materials which are used to strap section steels or packages. 3.6 hand protector The materials which are placed between section steels or between section steel and strapping materials to prevent section steels being damaged or strapping materials being cut off.

4 Inspection Rules

4.1 Inspection and acceptance 4.1.1 The quality of section steel shall be inspected and accepted by the quality supervision department of the supplier. 4.2 Batching rules Section steel shall be inspected and accepted by batch; and the batching rules shall be as specified in the corresponding product standards. 4.3 Inspection items, sampling quantity, sampling locations and test methods The inspection items, sampling quantity, sampling locations and test methods of section steels shall be as specified in the corresponding product standards. 4.4 Where chemical composition inspection is specified in the product standards, the corresponding product standards shall be implemented; 4.5 Criteria of impact test results 4.6 Rules for retest and determination 4.6.1 Sequential test (such as impact test) In accordance with the criteria of impact test results specified in 4.5, when the results are unacceptable, the sample products of the unacceptable test results shall be picked out and scrapped, two samples products are taken from the rest of the test unit and a new group of three test pieces are taken from each sample product. All the test results of the two groups of test pieces shall be acceptable; or else, the test unit shall be rejected. 4.6.2 Non-sequential test (such as tensile test and bending test) 4.6.2.1 If the unacceptable results are not calculated from the mean value but are measured from the tests, such as tensile test and bending test, the following method shall be used. 4.6.2.2 When the products’ retest results are unacceptable, the testing on each products of the test unit is allowed and the delivery of acceptable single-piece products is allowed. 4.6.3 Unallowed retest item In case of any flake, retest is not allowed.

5 Packaging

5.1 General specifications 5.1.1 The section steels in bundles shall kept flush at both end. 5.2 Packaging materials 5.2.1 The section steels in bundles shall be strapped securely using strapping materials. 5.2.2 In accordance with the requirements of the purchaser, protective materials for strapping may be used between section steels and between section steels and strapping materials, in order to protect section steels from being damaged and strapping materials from being cut off. 5.2.3 In accordance with the requirements of the purchaser, protective packaging materials may be used for packaging. The commonly-used protective materials include kraft paper, volatile rust preventive paper, plastic film, grease-proof paper and so on. 5.3 Strapping package 5.3.1 Hot-rolled section steels 5.3.2 Cold-drawn steel Cold-drawn steel shall be delivered in bundles or coils. The packages for delivery in bundles shall be as specified in Table 2; and the packages for delivery in coils shall be as specified in 5.3.1.7. 5.3.3 Cold-formed section steel Cold-formed section steel is generally delivered in bundles or in single pieces; and the packages in bundles shall be as specified in Table 3.

6 Marking

6.1 The marking shall be legible and indelible; and the words shall be clear, standard and not easy to fade. 6.2 The marking shall include at least the following content. name or trademark of manufacturer, product name, product standard number, designation, 6.3 The marking may be done by hot-rolled printing, jet printing, stamping, printing, affixing (hanging) labels and tagging. The supplier may choose one or several marking methods. 6.4 The section steels (except cold-drawn steel) delivered in single pieces shall be marked on the end faces of section steel or near the ends.

7 Storage

7.1 Section steels shall be stored in a clean, dry and well-ventilated place. 7.2 There shall be no corrosive chemicals near section steels.

8 Transportation

8.1 Section steels shall be prevented from collision during transportation. 8.2 The effective protective measures for water-proofing and damp-proofing shall be taken during transportation.

9 Quality Certification

9.1 Each batch of section steels delivered shall be accompanied by the quality certificate to certify that the batch meets the requirements of standards and purchase contracts. 9.2 The quality certificate shall be stamped by the quality supervision department of the supplier. 9.3 The quality certificate shall include the following content. ......
