Foreword

GB/T 18490 "Safety of machinery - Laser processing machines" is divided into the following three parts: - Part 1: General safety requirement; - Part 2: Safety requirements for hand-held laser processing devices; - Part 3: Noise reduction and noise measurement methods for laser processing machines and hand-held processing devices and associated auxiliary equipment (accuracy grade 2). This Part is Part 1 of GB/T 18490. This Part is drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009. This Part replaces GB 18490-2001 "Laser processing machines - Safety requirements". Compared with GB 18490-2001, the main technical changes of this Part are as follows: - ADD the standard for noise hazard generated by laser processing machines to the scope (see Clause 1); - ADD and modify the normative references (see Clause 2); - ADD terms and definitions: location with controlled access, location with restricted access, location with unrestricted and uncontrolled access (see 3.3, 3.4, 3.5); - ADD "Machinery shall comply as appropriate with GB/T 15706-2012 for hazards which are not covered by this Part." (see 5.1); - Modify the content of protection against laser radiation hazards (see 5.3.2.1, 5.3.2.2; 5.3.1.1 and 5.3.1.2 of the 2001 edition); - Modify the content of control means and circuits (see 5.3.3.1, 5.3.3.3, 5.3.3.4, 5.3.3.6; 5.3.2, 5.3.2.2, 5.3.2.3, 5.3.2.5 of the 2001 edition); - Modify the standard content that user information shall follow (see Clause 7; Clause 7 of the 2001 edition); - ADD examples of processing by-products of unintentionally deteriorated materials (see A.1.10); - ADD the standard content that shall be followed for related hazard protection (see Annex B). This Part uses the redraft law to modify and adopt ISO 11553-1:2005 "Safety of machinery - Laser processing machines - Part 1: General safety requirements". Compared with ISO 11553-1:2005, the main technical differences and their reasons for this Part are as follows: - As for the normative references, this Part has made adjustments with technical differences, to adapt to the technical conditions of China. The adjustments are reflected in Clause 2 “Normative references”. The specific adjustments are as follows:  Replace the referenced document ISO 3864:1984 in the former international standard with GB/T 2893 (all parts). The degree of consistency between the two standards is as follows:  GB/T 2893.1-2013 Graphical symbols - Safety colours and safety signs - Part 1: Design principles for safety signs and safety markings (ISO 3864.1-2011, MOD)  GB/T 2893.2-2008 Graphical symbols - Safety colours and safety signs - Part 2: Design principles for product safety labels (ISO 3864-2:2004, MOD)  GB/T 2893.3-2010 Graphical symbols - Safety colours and safety signs - Part 3: Design principles for graphical symbols for use in safety signs (ISO 3864-3:2006, MOD)  GB/T 2893.4-2013 Graphical symbols - Safety colours and safety signs - Part 4: Colorimetric and photometric properties of safety sign materials (ISO 3864-4:2011, MOD)  Replace the referenced document IEC 60204-1:1997 in the former international standard with GB 5226.1-2008 identical to the international standard (see 5.3.3, Clause 7);  Replace the referenced document IEC 60825-1:2001 in the former international standard with GB 7247.1-2012 identical to the international standard (see Clause 3, 5.3, Clause 6, Clause 7, Clause 8);  Replace the referenced documents ISO 12100-1:2003 and ISO 12100- 2:2003 in the former international standard with GB/T 15706-2012 identical to the international standard ISO 12100:2010 (see Clause 3, 4.2, 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, Clause 7);  Replace the referenced document ISO 13849-1:1999 in the former international standard with GB/T 16855.1-2008 identical to the international standard (see 5.3.3);  Replace the referenced document IEC 60825-4:2011 in the former international standard with GB/T 7247.4-2016 identical to the international standard (see 5.3.2);  Replace the referenced document ISO 14119:1998 in the former international standard with GB/T 18831-2010 which modifies and adopts the international standard (see 5.3.3);  Replace the referenced document ISO 14118:2000 in the former international standard with GB/T 19670-2005 which modifies and adopts the international standard (see 5.3.3);  Replace the referenced document ISO 11252:2004 in the former international standard with ISO 11252:2013;  ADD GB/T 18490.3-2017 Safety of machinery - Laser processing machines -Part 3: Noise reduction and noise measurement methods for laser processing machines and hand-held processing devices and associated auxiliary equipment (accuracy grade 2); - Delete Table 1 in ISO 11553-1:2005, 3.5, to eliminate ambiguity and simplify the standard; - ADD the title 5.3.3.1 General for the first suspended paragraph in 5.3.3.
