This standard replaces GB/T 1690-2006 “Rubber, vulcanized or thermoplastic - Determination of the effect of liquids”. As compared with GB/T 1690-2006, the main technical differences of this standard are as follows. - ADD a test piece type of “measuring of volume changes and mass changes”, type II. 25 mm x 25 mm square (SEE 5.2); - CORRECT the equation (1) into (SEE 7.2); - ADD an equation (SEE 7.3); - ADD the Appendix B “Reference liquid”, in order to specify the main performance of domestic No.1, 2, and 3 standard oils. This standard, through the re-drafting method, modifies and adopts ISO 1817.2005 “Rubber, vulcanized - Determination of the effects of liquids” (English version). The technical differences between this standard and ISO 1817.2005 AND their causes are as follows. - CHANGE the standard name into “Rubber, vulcanized or thermoplastic - Determination of the effect of liquids”, because the standard scope had included the thermoplastic rubber. - On the normative references, this standard has made adjustments with technical differences, in order to adapt to the technical conditions in China, AND the adjustments are centrally reflected in Chapter 2 “Normative references”, which are detailed as below. • USE the GB/T 262 which had modified and adopted international standard to replace ISO 2977 (SEE Table A.3 and Table B.1); • USE the GB/T 528 which had equivalently adopted international standard to replace ISO 37 (SEE 5.2 and 7.7); • USE the GB/T 1884 which had modified and adopted international standard to replace ISO 3675 (SEE Table A.3; Table B.2); • USE the GB/T 2941-2006 which had equivalently adopted international standard to replace ISO 23529.2004 (SEE 3.4, 5.1, 5.3, 5.4 and 6.1); • USE the GB/T 3535 which had modified and adopted international standard to replace ISO 3016.1994 (SEE Table A.4); • USE the GB/T 3536 which had modified and adopted international standard to replace ISO 2592.2000 (SEE Table A.3); • USE the GB/T 6031 which had equivalently adopted international standard to replace ISO 48.1994 (SEE 7.6); • USE the GB/T 11547 which had modified and adopted international standard to replace ISO 175.1999 (SEE Table A.4). - In Chapter 2 “Normative references”, ADD three standards. GB/T 265, GB/T 267, and GB/T 388.The reason for this is that these three standards are referenced in the newly added Appendix B of this standard. - The test mass changes, volume changes and test piece size requirements vary. In this standard, it specifies that the test piece size is type I. 25 mm x 50 mm rectangle; type II. 25 mm × 25 mm square (5.2 of this version). However in ISO 1817.2005, it specifies that the test piece is 1 cm3 ~ 3 cm3 (5.2 of ISO 1817 version). This is due to the wide range of ISO standards, which is not favorable to unify standard or data comparison. - When selecting the test liquid, in addition to the ASTM No.1, IRM902 and IRM903 standard oils as specified in ISO 1817.2005 (Appendix A of this version), ADD the domestic No.1, 2 and 3 standard oils (Appendix B of this version) of GB/T 1690-1992.As the ASTM No.1, IRM902 and IRM903 standard oils as specified in ISO 1817.2005 adopted has not yet achieved localization, they need to be imported and the purchase channel is narrow, especially there is difference between the test results and the test results of the domestic No.1, 2 and 3 standard soils; therefore, it adds the domestic No.1, 2 and 3 standard oils (Appendix B of this version) of GB/T 1690-1992. - DELETE the descriptions on the reasons for specifying the standard simulation liquid from the Appendix A.1 (Appendix A of this version; Paragraph I of Appendix A in ISO 1817), because the provisions in Table A.1 are clear. - ADD the Appendix B “Reference liquid”, to specify the main performance of domestic No.1, 2, and 3 standard oils. This standard was proposed by the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association. This standard is under the jurisdiction of the National Rubber Standard Committee General Test Method Sub-committee (SAC/TC 35/SC 2). The main drafting organizations of this standard. Rubber Group Shenyang Rubber Research & Design Institute Company Limited, Beijing Rubber Industry Research and Design Institute, Northwest Rubber and Plastic Research and Design Institute. The main drafters of this standard. Fei Kanghong, Zhao Bodan, Xie Junfang, Zhu Wei. This Standard replaces the standard previously issued as follows. - GB/T 1690-1987, GB/T 1690-1992, GB/T 1690-2006.1 ScopeThis standard specifies the methods of evaluating the resistance of vulcanized and thermoplastic rubbers to the action of liquids by measurement of properties of the rubbers before and after immersion in test liquids. The liquids concerned include current service liquids, such as petroleum derivatives, organic solvents, and chemical reagents, etc.2 Normative referencesThe following documents are essential to the application of this document. For the dated documents, only the versions with the dates indicated are applicable to this document; for the undated documents, only the latest version (including all the amendments) are applicable to this Standard.3 Test deviceThe test pieces shall be hanged on a rod or wire, AND separated from any adjacent test pieces, for instance by glass rings or other non-reactive spacers. It is capable of measuring the lengths of the diagonals of the test piece.4 Test liquidsThe choice of the test liquid shall be based on the purpose of the test. When information is required on the service behavior of a vulcanized or thermoplastic rubber in contact with a particular liquid, then this liquid shall, if possible, be chosen for the test.5 Test piecesUnless otherwise specified, the time interval between the vulcanization and test shall be as specified in GB/T 2941 as below. The test piece shall be conditioned for at least 3 hours at the standard laboratory temperature as specified in GB/T 2941.AND the same temperature shall be used throughout any test or any series of tests intended to be comparable.6 Temperature and duration of test liquid immersionSince the rate of penetration of liquids into rubbers depends on the temperature, the type of rubber material, and the type of liquid, the use of only one standard period of immersion is precluded.7 ProceduresWEIGH the mass of the test piece before and after immersion at the standard laboratory temperature, accurate to 1 mg. The water replacement method is used for test liquids which are immiscible with water.8 Test reportThe test report shall include the following information. ......Source: Above contents are excerpted from the full-copy PDF -- translated/reviewed by: www.ChineseStandard.net / Wayne Zheng et al.
