1 Scope

This Standard specifies the designation and code, technical requirements, test methods and inspection rules of casting aluminum alloy. This Standard is applicable to casting aluminum alloy used for aluminum alloy casting (excluding die casting).

2 Normative references

The following referenced documents are indispensable for the application of this document. For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For undated references, the latest edition of the referenced document (including any amendments) applies. GB/T 228.1, Metallic materials - Tensile testing - Part 1.Method of test at room temperature GB/T 231.1, Metallic materials - Brinell hardness test - Part 1.Test method GB/T 5678, Sampling methods of spectrochemical analysis for cast alloys GB/T 7999, Optical emission spectrometric analysis method of aluminum and aluminum alloys GB/T 8063, Cast nonferrous metals and their alloys GB/T 8170, Rules of rounding off for numerical values & expression and judgement of limiting values

3 Alloy designation and code

3.1 Alloy designation representation method The casting aluminum alloy designation representation method shall be in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 8063. 3.2 Alloy code The alloy code in this Standard consists of Chinese phonetic alphabet "ZL" indicating casting aluminum and three Arabic numerals followed. 3.3 Alloy casting method, metamorphic machined code 3.4 Alloy heat treatment state code T8 - Solid solution treatment plus softening treatment

4 Technical requirements

4.1 Chemical composition 4.1.1 The chemical compositions of cast aluminum alloys are shown in Table 1. 4.1.2 Aluminum silicon series require to use sodium or strontium (intermediate alloy containing sodium salt and aluminum strontium) to carry out the deterioration treatment for deteriorated alloy. 4.1.3 When used in marine environment, the copper content in ZL101 alloy shall not exceed 0.1%. 4.1.4 In metallic casting, the maximum silicon content in ZL203 alloy shall be 3.0%. 4.1.8 The aluminum alloy product contact with food is not allowed to contain beryllium. Arsenic content is not more than 0.015%. Zinc content is not more than 0.3%. Lead content is not more than 0.05%. 4.1.9 When the total impurity content is used to express the impurity content, in the absence of specific provisions, the content of each unlisted element shall not exceed 0.05%. 4.2 Mechanical properties 4.2.1 Mechanical properties of single cast sample of casting aluminum alloy under sand casting, metal casting, melt mold casting and shell casting conditions are shown in Table 3. 4.2.2 The hardness values shall be inspected in accordance with Table 3 requirements required by the purchaser. 4.3 Heat treatment process The heat treatment process of alloy shall be agreed by the supplier and the purchaser. Refer to Annex A for the recommended heat treatment process.

5 Test methods

5.1 Chemical composition The inspection method for alloy chemical composition shall be carried out according to the provisions of GB/T 20975 or GB/T 7999. 5.2 Mechanical properties 5.2.1 The stretching test shall be carried out according to the provisions of GB/T 228.1.

6 Test method

6.1 Batch The same melting furnace times, the same heat treatment state shall be a test batch. 6.2 Sampling method 6.2.2 Mechanical properties 6.2.2.1 For a melting furnace, before casting or at half of the casting duration of all castings, carry out the casting of mechanical properties sample. When the casting duration is more than 4h, at the half of the second 4h, it shall cast mechanical properties sample to analyze, and so on. 6.3 Single cast sample 6.3.1 It can use sand casting, metal casting, melt mold casting and shell casting single casting rough samples for tensile test. 6.3.2 The shape and size of the sand casting sample are shown in Figure 1. The shape and size of the metal casting sample are shown in Figure 2. 6.3.3 Sand sample shall be cast in the absence of artificial cold sand. 6.3.4 Metallic sample shall be cast in metal mold. To ensure the quality of the single cast sample, the recommended sample design process is shown in Figure B.2. 6.3.5 The melt mold casting sample shall be completely cast in the shell mold, without artificial cooling. 6.4.4 Various casting methods allow the use of sand or metal mold samples to determine the mechanical properties. And the acceptance shall be carried out according to corresponding indicators of sand or metal mold samples. 6.4.5 Hardness can be repeated for heat treatment, but the total heat treatment should not be more than 3 times. The alloys after heat treatment, in addition to the hardness inspection, the alloy’s tensile strength and elongation shall be also inspected. ......
