Methods for chemical analysis of lithium carbonate, lithium hydroxide monohydrate and lithium chloride - Part 10.Determination of chloride content - Silver chloride nephelometry method This Part of GB/T 11064 specifies the determination method of chloride content in lithium carbonate, in lithium hydroxide monohydrate, and in lithium chloride. This Part applies to the determination of chloride content in lithium carbonate, in lithium hydroxide monohydrate, and in lithium chloride. The determination range. 0.0010%~0.10%. In nitric acid media, chloride ions and silver ions produce insoluble silver chloride. During a certain period of time, the silver chloride appears in suspension. Determine its absorbance at the 420nm wavelength of a spectrophotometer; obtain the chlorine content. Unless otherwise specified, the reagent used in this Part is guaranteed reagent, and the water used in this Part is the secondary deionized water. 3.1 Nitric acid (1+1). 3.2 Nitric acid (9+16). 3.3 Silver nitrate solution (0.1mol/L). weigh 17.0g of silver nitrate into a beaker. Add water to dissolve it. Transfer the mixture to a 1,000mL brown flask. Drop-add nitric acid (3.1) to make the solution to be transparent. Dilute it with water to the scale; shake it up; store it in a dark place. 3.4 Sodium hydroxide solution (100g/L). weigh 10g of sodium hydroxide into a 250mL plastic beaker. Add 100mL of de-carbonated water to dissolve it; then store it in a plastic bottle. 3.5 Ascorbic acid solution (25g/L), analytical reagent, prepared when it is used. 3.6 Chloride standard stock solution. weigh 1.6484g of sodium chloride (reference Spectrophotometer. 5.1 The samples of lithium carbonate shall be preheated at 250°C~260°C for 2h; then cool down to room temperature in a desiccator. 5.2 The sample of lithium hydroxide monohydrate shall be filled into a plastic container, which shall be sealed for storage. 6.1 Samples Weigh the sample according to Table 1, accurate to 0.0001g. 6.2 Blank Test Carry out a blank test for the accompanying samples. Add the same amount of acid as that for sample dissolving. Evaporate it to be almost dry at a low temperature. 6.3 Number of Determination Independently carry out two measurements; take the mean value. 6.4 Determination 6.4.2 Use sodium hydroxide (3.4) to mix the solution to be yellow; then add nitric acid (3.2) until it is colorless, and to be 2mL over the volume. Add 1mL of silver nitrate solution (3.3); dilute it with water to the scale; shake up. Place it on standing for 15min. 6.4.3 Take some of the solution (6.4.2) to a 3cm cuvette. With the blank reagent as reference, determine the absorbance at 420nm wavelength of a spectrophotometer. 6.4.4 Subtract the absorbance of the blank solution of the accompanying samples; find out the corresponding chloride content on the working curve. 6.5 Working Curve Plotting8 Precision8.1 Repeatability For the two independent test results obtained under repeatability conditions, within the average-value range as given below, the absolute difference of these two test results does not exceed the repeatability limit (r), and the situation exceeding repeatability limit (r) is not more than 5%. 8.2 Allowable difference The difference of analysis results among laboratories shall not be more than the allowable difference in Table 3.9 Test reportThe test report shall contain the following content. ......Source: Above contents are excerpted from the full-copy PDF -- translated/reviewed by: www.ChineseStandard.net / Wayne Zheng et al.
