1 General Provisions

1.0.1 This Code is formulated with a view to implementing the national technical and economic policies, ensuring the engineering quality, and realizing advanced technology, reasonable process, resources conservation and environmental protection during the construction of concrete structures. 1.0.2 This Code is applicable to the construction of concrete structures in building engineering, not to the construction of lightweight aggregate concrete and special concrete. 1.0.3 This Code contains the basic requirements for the construction of concrete structures. When there are special requirements for the construction stated in the design documents, the construction shall also be implemented in accordance with the design documents. 1.0.4 Construction of concrete structures shall not only meet the requirements of this Code but also comply with those in the current relevant standards of the nation.

2 Terms

2.0.1 Concrete structure The structure mainly made of concrete, including plain concrete structure, reinforced concrete structure and prestressed concrete structure, which may be classified into cast-in-situ concrete structure and precast concrete structure according to the construction method. 2.0.2 Cast-in-situ concrete structure The concrete structure that is made by erecting formwork in situ and integral casting, hereinafter referred to as cast-in-situ structure. 2.0.3 Precast concrete structure The concrete structure that is made by assembling and connecting the precast concrete members or parts, hereinafter referred to as precast structure. 2.0.4 Workability of concrete The features that shall be possessed of by the concrete mixture in order to meet the construction operation requirements and ensure the concrete uniformity and compactness, mainly including flowability, cohesiveness and water-retaining property. It is hereinafter referred to as workability of concrete. 2.0.9 Construction joint It refers to the joint formed by segmented placing according to the design requirements or the construction demands. The joints will be formed when concrete continues to be placed after the previously-placed concrete reaches a certain strength. 2.0.10 Post-cast strip The concrete strip in certain width, placed after a certain time, which is reserved in such structures as beam, slab (including foundation slab) and wall, in order to adapt to the influence of such factors as the ambient temperature changes, concrete shrinkage and structural differential settlement.

3 Basic Requirements

3.1 Construction Management 3.1.1 The construction organizations for the concrete structures shall have corresponding qualification and establish corresponding quality management system as well as construction quality control and inspection system. 3.1.2 Organization structuring and manning of construction project department shall meet the construction management requirements of concrete structures. Construction operation personnel shall receive training to acquire the basic knowledge and skills required for their respective posts. 3.1.5 The construction organization shall establish specific construction schemes according to the requirements of the design documents and construction organization design, which shall be implemented after examined and approved by the supervision organization. 3.1.6 Before construction of concrete structures, the construction organization shall establish emergency plan upon the contingent hazards, disasters and emergencies at the construction site. Technical disclosure and training shall be carried out for the emergency plan, and drilling shall be carried out if necessary. 3.2 Construction Technology 3.2.1 Before construction of concrete structures, the construction process shall be determined according to the structure types, characteristics and construction conditions, and each preparation work shall be completed. 3.2.2 Construction process monitoring should be carried out and construction control measures shall be timely adjusted for the concrete structures that have complex shape, relatively large height or span, complex subgrade conditions and particular construction environment conditions.

4 Formwork

4.1 General Requirements 4.1.1 Special construction scheme shall be prepared for the formwork. Technology demonstration shall be carried out for the special construction schemes of tall formwork support and such tool-type formwork as sliding formwork and creeping formwork. 4.2 Materials 4.2.1 Technical indexes of formwork and support materials shall meet the requirements of the current relevant standards of the Nation. 4.2.2 Light-weight, high-strength and durable materials should be used in the formwork and support. The standard approved products should be selected as the connection. 4.3 Design 4.3.1 Types and construction of formwork and support shall be determined according to such conditions as engineering structure type, load, subsoil category, construction equipment and material supply. 4.3.4 As for the design of formwork and support, the loads under different operating conditions and their combinations shall be calculated according to the actual conditions. Characteristic value of each load may be determined according to Appendix A of this Code. 4.3.10 Height-width ratio of support should not be greater than 3, otherwise the overall stability measures shall be strengthened. 4.3.13 In the case of continuous formwork erecting for multi-layer floor, it shall be analyzed that the influence of load transfer between multi-layer floors on the support and floor structure. 4.3.14 In the case of support column or vertical formwork supported on the soil layer, the soil layer shall be checked according to the relevant requirements of the current national standard "Code for Design of Building Foundation". 4.4 Fabrication and Installation 4.4.1 Formworks shall be processed and fabricated according to the drawings. Strongly-universal formworks should be fabricated into the approved ones.

5 Reinforcement

5.1 General Requirements 5.1.1 Reinforcement should adopt the fabricated steel bar produced in a specialized way. 5.2 Materials 5.2.1 Properties of the reinforcement shall meet the requirements of the current relevant standards of the Nation. Nominal diameter, nominal sectional area, calculation sectional area and theoretical weight of common reinforcement shall meet the requirements of Appendix B of this Code. 5.2.3 During construction, measures shall be taken to prevent the confusion, rusting or damage of reinforcement. 5.2.4 During construction, if there is brittle failure, poor welding performance or obviously abnormal mechanical performance in the reinforcement, this batch of reinforcement shall be taken out of service, and then chemical composition inspection or other special inspection shall be carried out for this batch of reinforcement. 5.3 Reinforcement Fabrication 5.3.1 The surface of reinforcement shall be cleaned up before fabrication. Reinforcement with granular or flaky old rust or damage shall not be used. 5.3.2 Reinforcement fabrication should be carried out under normal temperature. During the fabrication process, the reinforcement shall not be heated. Reinforcement shall be bent in place at one time. 5.4 Reinforcement Connection and Fixing 5.4.1 Reinforcement joints should be arranged at a position under small load; as for the structure with requirements for seismic resistance, reinforcement joints should not be arranged within the range of stirrup densified area at the beam end and column end, within which area the reinforcement splicing shall not be carried out. 5.4.2 Reinforcement mechanical connection construction shall meet the following requirements. 5.4.3 Reinforcement welding construction shall meet the following requirements. 5.4.4 Where the longitudinal stressed reinforcement adopts mechanical joints or welded joints, the arrangement of joints shall meet the following requirements. 5.4.6 As for such members as beam and column, stirrups shall be configured within the splicing length range of their longitudinal stressed reinforcement according to the design requirements, which shall meet the following requirements. 5.4.7 The reinforcement binding shall meet the following requirements. 5.5 Quality Control 5.5.1 Site inspection of reinforcement shall meet the following requirements.

6 Prestressed Concrete

6.1 General Requirements 6.1.1 Special construction scheme shall be prepared for the prestressed concrete. The in-depth design shall be carried out by the construction organization according to the design documents, if necessary. 6.1.2 During the construction of prestressed concrete, necessary quality assurance measures shall be taken according to the ambient temperature, which shall meet the following requirements. 6.2 Materials 6.2.1 Performance of the prestressed tendons shall meet the requirements of the current relevant standards of the Nation. Nominal diameter, nominal sectional area, calculation sectional area and theoretical weight of common prestressed tendons shall meet the requirements of Appendix B of this Code. 6.3 Fabrication and Installation 6.3.1 Fabrication length of prestressed tendon shall be determined through calculation; the prestressed tendon shall be cut off by such mechanical methods as abrasive cutoff saw or cut-off machine. During the fabrication or installation process, the prestressed tendons shall not be used as earthing wires, which shall also be prevented from being damaged by welding slag or earthing spark. 6.3.2 During the on-site handling and laying process of unbonded prestressed tendons, their plastic sheathes shall not be damaged. In the case of slight damage, the sheathes shall be timely sealed with waterproof tape; the tendons with badly damaged sheathes shall not be used. 6.4.4 Post-tensioning control stress of prestressed tendon shall meet the requirements of design and special construction scheme. Where over-post-tensioning is required during construction, the adjusted post-tensioning control stress (σcon) shall meet the following requirements. 6.4.6 Post-tensioning sequence of prestressed tendon shall meet the design requirements as well as the following requirements. 6.5 Grouting and Anchorage Protection 6.5.1 In post-tensioning, the holes shall be grouted as early as possible after post-tensioning the bonded prestressed tendon and passing the inspection; the cement grout in holes shall be full and compact.

7 Concrete Production and Transportation

7.1 General Requirements 7.1.1 Premixed concrete should be used in concrete structure construction. 7.1.2 Production of concrete shall meet the following requirements. 7.2 Materials 7.2.1 The key technical indexes of the materials for concrete shall meet the requirements of Appendix F in this Code as well as current relevant standards of the Nation. 7.2.4 Fine aggregate should adopt natural sand or manufactured sand with good gradation, hard character and clean particle, and it shall meet the following requirements. 7.2.7 Mineral admixtures shall be selected according to the design and construction requirements, and the environment conditions of the engineering location, and its dosage shall be determined by test. 7.2.8 Additives shall be selected by test according to the design and construction requirements, the properties of materials for concrete and the environment conditions of the engineering location, and they shall meet the following requirements. 7.3 Mix Proportioning 7.3.1 The design mix proportion of concrete shall be determined by test, and meet the following requirements.

8 Cast-in-situ Concrete

8.1 General Requirements 8.1.1 The following works shall be completed before placing of concrete. 8.1.2 The temperature of casting concrete mixture shall not be lower than 5°C and it shall not be higher 35°C. 8.2 Conveying 8.2.1 Concrete conveying should adopt pumping mode. 8.2.3 Setting of concrete pump pipe and support shall meet the following requirements. 8.2.4 The setting of concrete conveying feeding equipment shall meet the following requirements. 8.2.5 Pipe, vessel and down-spouting for concrete conveying shall not absorb water and leak slurry, and they shall guarantee smooth conveying. Thermal insulation, heat insulation and rain-proof measures shall be applied for conveying concrete according to environment conditions. 8.2.7 Conveying concrete with hoisting bucket vessel shall meet the following requirements. 8.3 Placing 8.3.1 Prior to concreting, sundries in formwork or on bedding shall be removed. Dry foundation, cushion, formwork should be watered; when the environment temperature is higher than 35 °C, metal formwork should be watered for cooling; after watering, there shall be no left water.

9 Precast Concrete

9.1 General Requirements 9.1.1 A special construction scheme shall be prepared for precast concrete. If necessary, the professional construction organization shall carry out a deepening design according to the design document. 9.1.4 After inspection qualified, a reliable designation shall be provided on the precast member. Throughout the construction of precast concrete, measures shall be taken to prevent the precast member against damage or contamination. 9.1.5 If a special approved product is adopted during the construction of precast concrete, the special approved product and construction practice shall meet the requirements of the current relevant national standards and product application technology manual. 9.2 Checking 9.2.1 Before the construction of precast concrete structure, necessary checking shall be carried out in accordance with the design requirements and construction scheme. 9.2.3 The checking of precast member shall meet the design requirements. If there is no specific design requirement, the following requirements should be complied with. 9.3 Production 9.3.1 The place for producing precast member shall be flat, smooth and solid and shall take drainage measures. When a pedestal is adopted for producing precast member, the pedestal surface shall be flat and smooth; the evenness of the surface within the length of 2m shall not be larger than 2mm; and expansion joints shall be provided in areas with large temperature variation. 9.4 Storage and Transportation 9.4.1 The bearing position for the storage and transportation of precast member shall be determined through calculation. ......
