Foreword
GB/T 11918 Plugs, socket-outlets and couplers for industrial purposes is planed to be
divided into 4 parts.
— Part 1.General requirements;
— Part 2.Dimensional compatibility and interchangeability requirements for pin and
contact - tube accessories;
— Part 3.(name to be determined);
— Part 4.Switched socket-outlets and connectors with or without interlock.
This Part is Part 2 of GB/T 11918.
This Part is drafted in accordance with the rules specified in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This Part replaces GB/T 11919-2001 Plugs, socket-outlets and couplers for industrial
purposes - Part 2.Dimensional compatibility and interchangeability requirements for pin
and contact-tube accessories.
Compared with GB/T 11919-2001, this Part has the following main changes.
- According to IEC 60309-2.2012, the standard name is changed from “Plugs,
socket-outlets and couplers for industrial purposes - Part 2.Dimensional
interchangeability requirements for pin and contact-tube accessories” to be “Plug,
socket-outlets and couplers for industrial purposes - Part 2.Dimensional compatibility
and interchangeability requirements for pin and contact-tube accessories”;
- The rated operational voltage in Chapter 1 is changed from 690V to 1,000V;
- Chapter 1 defines that the accessories are only intended to be installed and used by
trained (electrical) persons or skilled (electrical) technicians;
- Chapter 1 extends the range applicable to electrical accessories with screwless
terminals or insulation piercing terminals;
- Chapter 2 adds GB 16895.21 and GB 14048.3;
- Add relevant description of 4.1;
- Add the classification of standard IP codes as specified in GB 4208 to 5.101;
- Delete 6.1.2 of GB/T 11919-2001;
- Modify 7.2;
- Add “the indicating requirements of electrical accessories at the 8h clock position for
portable thermostats with the operating voltage not more than 50V” to 7.5;
- Add “the positions of small keys or key slots of special electrical accessories with
rated operational voltage not more than 50V” to 8.1;
- Rewrite Chapter 11;
- Amend Table 109 according to the level of protection;
- Change in Chapter 14 the level of protection of electrical accessories at a rated
current of 63/60A and at a rated current of 125/100A;
- Modify the Table 104;
- Add “the requirements for relevant standard leaflets” in 16.101;
- Add the diagram of composition planes in standard leaflet 2-I;
- Add the diagram of composition planes in standard leaflet 2-III;
- Modify the diagram of standard leaflet 2-III a;
- Modify the diagram of standard leaflet 2-IV a;
- Add the diagram of standard leaflet 2-VIII a;
- Add the diagram of standard leaflet 2-IX a;
- Add the list of chapters needing repeated tests in Annex A.
This Part uses re-drafting method to modify and adopt IEC 60309-2.2012 “Plug,
socket-outlets and couplers for industrial purposes - Part 1.Dimensional compatibility and
interchangeability requirements for pin and contact-tube accessories”.
Technical differences between this Part and IEC 60309-2.2012, and the causes, are as
follows.
- In respect of normative references, this Part makes adjustments of technical
difference to adapt to the technical requirements of China. Such adjustments are
collectively reflected in Chapter 2 “Normative References”. The detailed adjustments
are as follows.
• Replace IEC 60617-2.1996 with GB/T 4728.2-2005 “Graphical symbols for
electrical diagrams - Part 2.Symbol elements, qualifying symbols and other
symbols having general application” (IEC 60617, IDT);
• Replace IEC 60364-4-41 with GB 16895.21 “Low-voltage electrical installations -
Part 4-41.Protection for safety - Protection against electric shock” (GB
16895.21-2011, IEC 60364-4-41.2005, IDT)
This Part makes the editorial changes as follows.
- In Chapter 1, supplement “this Part of GB/T 11918 defines technical requirements
such as the dimensional interchangeability requirements for plugs, socket-outlets and
couplers for industrial purposes”;
- Exchange the orders of Chapter 3 and Chapter 2 of IEC 60309-2.2012, that is, make
the “Normative References” as Chapter 2 and the “Terms and Definitions” as Chapter
3;
- Move the description of the standard structure in the Introduction of IEC 60309-2 to
the Foreword of this Part; and delete the Introduction;
- Make adjustment to the “list of chapters needing repeated tests” in Annex B according
to the national standard GB/T 11919- 2001 that corresponds to IEC 60309-2.
This Part was proposed by China Electrical Equipment Industrial Association.
This Part shall be under the jurisdiction of National Electrical Accessory Standardization
Technical Committee (SAC/TC 67).

1 Scope
This clause in GB/T 11918.1-2014 is replaced as follows.
This Part of GB/T 11918 defines technical requirements of dimensional interchangeability
of plugs, socket-outlets and couplers for industrial purposes with bolts and bushes.
This Part applies to plugs and socket-outlets, cable couplers and appliance couplers with
a rated operating voltage not exceeding 1000 V, 500 Hz and a rated current not exceeding
125 A, primarily intended for industrial use, either indoors or outdoors.
2 Normative references
The articles contained in the following documents have become part of this document
when they are quoted herein. For the dated documents so quoted, all the modifications
(including all corrections) or revisions made thereafter shall be applicable to this
document.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purpose of this document, the following terms and definitions given in GB/T
11918.1-2014 shall apply.
4 General
If gauges are used, they shall be of hardened steel, all corners shall be slightly
rounded-off with a maximum radius of 0.1 mm, and the surface finish for all
measurement surfaces shall be min., if not otherwise specified.
5 Standard ratings
The standard IP ratings according to GB 4208-2008 are.
- IP44,
- IP67,
- IP66/IP67.
6 Classification
This clause of GB/T 11918.1-2014 is applicable.
7 Marking
The symbol indicating the position of the earthing contact or of the minor key or keyway
shall be placed before or above the figure for the rated operating voltage, and separated
from it by a line.
8 Dimensions
Accessories shall comply with the relevant standard sheets as specified below.
9 Protection against electric shock
Conformity with the relevant standard sheets ensures compliance with the requirement as
far as inaccessibility of contacts during insertion of a plug or connector into the
complementary accessories is concerned.
