used for the Professional standard, the serial number is JGJ 81-2002, which is carried
out from January 1, 2003. It is forcing articles for the 3. 0. 1, 4. 4. 2, 5. 1. 1, 7. 1. 5,
7. 3. 3 (1) (2), which must be carried out strictly; at the same time, abolish primitive
Professional standard (Technical specification for Welding of steel structure of building)
(JGJ 81-91).

Based on the demand of Building standard [1999] 309 for the Ministry construc-
tion, the team of establishing the specification, revised (Technical specification for
Welding of steel structure of building) CJGJ 81-91) overall and work out this specifica-
tion, undergo widely investigate and research, sum up seriously practical experience,
refer to related international standard and abroad advanced standard, and based on wide-
ly ask for the suggestion.
It is main technical content that 1 general ; 2 basic rule; 3 materials; 4 the struc-
ture of welding node; 5 welding procedure qualification; 6 welding process; 7 inspection
of welding quality; 8 weld reinforcement and consolidation; 9 welder examination.
It is revised that the main technical content.
The first chapter general, expand applicable range, confirm the plate thickness
lower limit, type and applicable welding method for the steel structure of building.
The second chapter basic rule is new addition. It definitely stipulate the principle to
differentiate difficult and easy of welding work for steel structure of building, qualifica-
tion of manufacture and assemble unit, duty and qualification of relative persons and
quality assurance system.
The third chapter materials, cancel the selective assemble table of general steel and
welding electrode, welding wire, welding flux and the limit of carbon equivalent of the
steel; add to reexamination of steel and welding material, national standard of welding
material and gases, performance request of the thickness of steel plate.
The fourth chapter structure of welding node, add to the shape and size of welding
groove for different welding process, various joint type and groove requirement of tubu-
lar structure, the node form against lamellar tearing of steel plate, the welding node
form of component making and installing on building site, the welding node form for
bearing dynamic load and against earthquake, general definition for welding node of as-
sembly welding, and revise the calculation thickness of welded seam.
The fifth chapter welding procedure qualification, which is overall expanded for.the
qualification rule of welding procedure, manufacture of test piece arid sample, test and
examination, and added to general definition of welding procedure qualifcation and defi-
nition of renewing welding procedure qualication.
The sixth chapter welding process, cancel parameter referencing table for various
welding methods, add to general definition of welding process, matching sample of vari-
ous welding methods and welding material, and the requirement for preheating, posthe-

at and stress relief after welding, and process step against lamellar tear and controlling
welding deformation.
The se'venth chapter inspection of welding quality, it is revised that the visual qual-
ified standard of welded seam, the permissible deviation of outline dimension for various
shape welded seam, and the requirement of non-destructive testing, added ·to dividing
definition of welding inspection group, ultrasonic testing method and criterion of defect
classification for welded seam of circular tube T, K, Y node, and ultrasonic testing
method of penetration width of electroslag welding seam for baffle of box-form compo-
nents.
The eighth chapter weld reinforcement and consolidation, is revised and added to
the method of weld reinforcement and consolidation for steel structure, added to calcula-
tion method of steel strength when steel structure corrupted for gas phase, the defini-
tion of reinforcement and consolidation for welded seam under load, the definition of ra-
tio ~ for nominal stress of component bear dynamic load and design value of steel
strength, the local property decrease of component and corresponding security meas'ures
as well as reduction coefficient of welded seam strength. considering welding instantane-
ous heating.
The ninth chapter welder examination, is revised for content and classify of exami-
nation, for hand operating ability, add to addition examination and locating weld exami-
nation. about hand operating ability.
