Foreword
This Part is equivalent to ISO 1724:2003 "Road vehicles - Connectors for the electrical
connection of towing and towed vehicles - 7-pole connector type 12 N (normal) for
vehicles with 12 V nominal supply voltage" (English version).
The following editorial changes have been made to this Part:
a) MODIFY the name of the standard;
b) USE "This Part" to replace this "this International Standard";
c) ADD the foreword of Chinese standard;
d) Where there is a national standard that equivalently adopts the international
standard among the cited standards, CHANGE it into the corresponding national
standard;
e) EXPLAIN the selection and numbering of specimens in 6.1;
f) ADD the references.
This Part replaces GB/T 5053.2-1985 "Electrical connections between motor vehicles
and towed vehicles - Type 12N". Compared with GB/T 5053.2-1985, the main
difference between this Part is the addition of tests and requirements (Chapter 6)
This Part was proposed by the Ministry of Communications of the People's Republic of
China.
This part is under the jurisdiction of the Trailer Sub-Technical Committee of the
National Automotive Standardization Technical Committee (SAC/TC 114/SC 13).
Drafting organizations of this Part: Highway Research Institute of the Ministry of
Communications, CIMC Vehicles (Group) Co., Ltd., Jiangsu Academy of
Transportation Sciences, Jilin University, Jaeger Baowei Auto Parts (Shenzhen) Co.,

1 Scope
This standard specifies the dimensions, application, tests, requirements for a 7-pole
connector type 12 N (normal) for vehicles with 12 V nominal supply voltage between
a tractor and a trailer.
Note: If the 7-pole electrical connector cannot meet the requirements, the 13-pole electrical
connector specified in GB/T 20718 can be used instead of the combination of this standard and
the 7-pole electrical connector, which is specified in ISO 3732.
