Textiles - Quantitative chemical analysis - Mixtures of
aramid with certain other fibres
1 Scope
This document specifies the method – by chemical analysis – for the determination of
the fibre content of two-component mixtures of aramid with certain other fibres after
removal of non-fibrous matter.
This document applies to two-component mixtures of aramid with animal fibres (silk,
sheep wool, cashmere, other special animal fibre), cellulose fibres (cotton, hemp,
viscose fibre, modal fibre, lyocell fibre, cupro ammonia fibre), polyamide fibres,
polyester fibres, polypropylene fibres, polyacrylonitrile fibres or certain modified
polyacrylonitrile fibres.
2 Normative references
The following documents are normatively referenced in this document and are
indispensable for its application. For dated references, only the version corresponding
to that date is applicable to this document; for undated references, the latest version
(including all amendments) is applicable to this document.

protein and certain other fibers (method using hypochlorite)
GB/T 2910.7, Textiles - Quantitative chemical analysis - Part 7: Mixtures of
polyamide and certain other fibres (method using formic acid)
GB/T 2910.11, Textiles - Quantitative chemical analysis - Part 11: Mixtures of
cellulose and polyester fibres (method using sulfuric acid)
GB/T 2910.12, Textiles - Quantitative chemical analysis - Part 12: Mixtures of
acrylic, certain modacrylic, certain chlorofibres, certain elastanes and certain other
fibres (method using dimethylformamide)
GB/T 2910.16, Textiles - Quantitative chemical analysis - Part 16: Mixtures of
polypropylene and certain other fibres (method using xylene)

8 Two-component mixtures of aramid with polypropylene
fibres (method using xylene)
The principles, reagents, instruments, test procedures, calculation and presentation of
the results involved shall be carried out according to GB/T 2910.16. The d value of
meta-aramid is 1.00; the d value of para-aramid is 1.00.
9 Two-component mixtures of aramid with acrylic or certain
modacrylic fibres (method using dimethylformamide)
The principles, reagents, instruments, test procedures, calculation and presentation of
the results involved shall be carried out according to GB/T 2910.12. The d value of
meta-aramid is 1.01; the d value of para-aramid is 1.00.
Note: See Appendix A of GB/T 41418-2022 for the identification method of meta-
aramid and para-aramid.
10 Precision
For a homogeneous mixture of textile materials, at the 95% confidence level, the
confidence limit of the test results of this method shall not exceed ±1%.
11 Test report
The test report shall include the following.
a) method of this document adopted.
b) the measured results of all components or a single component of the mixture.
c) the special pretreatment used to remove sizing agent or finishing agent, if adopted;
d) note that the above results are based on:
1) net dry mass percentage;
2) mass percentage combined with the conventional moisture regain;
3) mass percentage including the conventional moisture regain and the fibre loss
in pretreatment;
4) mass percentage including the conventional moisture regain and the non-
fibrous material removal.
