Dimensional stability of footwear outsole test method
1 Scope
This standard specifies the method for determining the linear change rate of the dimensions of shoe outsole materials after heating.

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
Dimensional stability
The sample is placed in a specified environment, and the distance between two points on the sample is measured before and after heating.
Note. This rate of change is expressed as a percentage.
4 Test equipment and materials
Apply the following equipment and materials.
4.1 Steel ruler, in millimeters.
4.2 Template and scalpel or another sharp knife, cut two reference incisions with a distance of 100mm or 50mm on the specimen.
4.3 The oven can heat the sample to 70 ℃ ± 2 ℃, and can carry out constant temperature control. The temperature deviation during the heating process is within 2 ℃.
4.4 Equipment for measuring the distance between two incisions on a plane, the distance is 100mm or 50mm, and the accuracy is ±0.2mm.
You can choose any of the following devices.
a) Steel ruler, in millimeters, see 4.1, used simultaneously with a 5x magnifying glass;
b) Measuring microscope or similar graduated optical equipment.
4.5 Thickness gauge, in accordance with ISO 23529 requirements, has a stable platform, its presser foot has a fixed weight load, and can apply a pressure of 10kPa ± 3kPa.
The diameter of the circular flat presser foot of the thickness gauge is 10.0mm±0.1mm.
The scale of the thickness gauge scale is 0.01mm.
5 Sampling and environmental adjustment
The sample is sampled according to ISO 17709.All samples should be environmentally adjusted according to ISO 18454 for at least 24 hours before testing.
The full thickness of the outsole should be measured.
The number of samples is at least 3.
6 Test method
6.1 Sample
Use a scalpel or other sharp knife (4.2) and a steel ruler (4.1) to cut the sample according to the specified size, see Figure 1.
Make two parallel cuts across the width of the specimen on the outer surface of the specimen. The cut depth does not exceed 0.5 mm. For larger specimens, the cut

6.2 Measurement before heating (L0)
Measure the distance between the two reference incisions along the center line to within ±0.2mm.
6.3 Heat aging
Place the sample horizontally (support the sample to ensure that all aspects of the sample have air circulation) in the oven (4.3) for 24h ± 0.5h,

6.4 Measurement after heat treatment (L)
After the heat treatment, take the sample out of the oven and place it in standard air for 30 minutes before measuring. If the sample is crimped,

If the measured incision becomes wider, use the center point of the incision as the measurement point. Use a suitable measuring tool to measure along the centerline,
Confirm within ±0.2mm.
7 Test results
Calculate the rate of change between cuts after each sample is heated, expressed as a percentage.
The data with the largest absolute value among the three test values is taken as the test result.
Express the rate of change S as a percentage (%), and calculate it with formula (1).
8 Test report
The test report should include the following.
a) Test results, expressed in accordance with Chapter 7;
b) The size of the sample (including thickness);
c) The detailed description of the sample includes the article number, number, color and material, etc.;
d) Number of this standard;
e) test date;
f) Any deviation from this method;
g) Processing time of the sample;
h) Standard environmental conditions required for the test.
