This Standard was proposed by China National Coal Association.
This Standard shall be under the jurisdiction of National Technical Committee 42 on
Coal of Standardization Administration of China (SAC/TC 42).

1 Scope
This Standard specifies the method summary, apparatus, analytical procedures,
calculation of analytical results and method precision for the determination of ignition
loss in coal gangue.

3 Method summary
Coal gangue sample, which is dried at 105°C ± 5°C, is burned to a constant weight at
800°C ± 10°C; and the loss on ignition is calculated based on the loss of mass.
4 Apparatus
4.1 Porcelain crucibles. 10 mL.
4.2 Forced air drying oven. equipped with an automatic temperature control device
which maintains the temperature within the range of 105°C ± 5°C.
4.3 Muffle furnace. the hearth has a sufficient constant zone which maintains the
temperature at 800°C ± 10°C.
4.4 Analytical balance. with a scale division of 0.1 mg.
4.5 Desiccator. containing desiccant.
4.6 Heat resistant porcelain plates or asbestos plates.
