Foreword
This Standard was drafted according to the rules specified in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This Standard was proposed by and shall be under the jurisdiction of China's State
Forestry Administration (SFA).
The responsible drafting organizations of this Standard. Fujian Yongan Forestry Bureau,
Fujian Provincial Department of Forestry, Food Science Academy of Fujian Agriculture
and Forestry University, Bamboo Category Research Institute of Zhejiang Agriculture and
Forestry University, Fujian Jian’ou Forestry Bureau, and Fujian Hua’an Forestry Science
and Technology Promotion Center.

Quality grading standards of main bamboo shoot
1 Scope
This Standard defines the terms and definitions, quality index, test methods, inspection
rules, logo, label, package, and storage of bamboo shoot.
This Standard shall be applicable to manufacture and sales’ spring shoot of phyllostachys
pubescens, winter shoot of phyllostachys pubescens, dendrocalamus latiflorus shoot,
phyllostachys praecox shoot, dendrocalamopsis oldhami shoot, and pleioblastus amarus
shoot.

when they are quoted herein. For the dated documents so quoted, all the modifications
(Including all corrections) or revisions made thereafter shall be applicable to this Standard.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purpose of this Standard, the following terms and definitions shall apply.
3.1
Bamboo shoot
Fresh bamboo shoots produced by bamboo forests.
3.2
Spring shoot of Phyllostachys pubescens
Bamboo shoots produced by phyllostachys pubescens forests in spring.
3.3
Winter shoot of Phyllostachys pubescens

5 Test Methods
5.1 Determination of the appearance quality
Using sensory evaluation method. Check fullness, freshness, color, rot, mildew, disease,
insect pest spot, and other items of shoot body by visual inspection.
5.2 Determination of weight
WEIGH by the electronic scale with measurement accuracy of 1g. PUT single bamboo
shoot on the electric scale and MEASURE its weight (accurate to 1g).
5.3 Determination of length of bamboo shoot
MEASURE by the ruler with measurement accuracy of 0.1cm. MEASURE the length of
bamboo shoot with a ruler FROM the middle position of cut of the shoot head TO the tip of
shoot tail (accurate to 0.1cm).
6 Inspection rules
6.1 Batch
The same-grade and same-type of bamboo shoots that are gathered from the same-area
and same-period shall be considered as 1 inspection batch.
6.2 Sampling methods
Executed according to the provisions of GB/T 8855.
6.3 Decision rules
6.3.1 DETERMINE according to this Standard. If all results are in conformity with the
requirements defined in this Standard, the batch of bamboo shoots shall be decided as
qualified.
6.3.2 If there is 1 item unqualified in the quality grading index of bamboo shoot,
re-inspection of the same batch shall be performed with double sampling. If the
re-inspection result is still unqualified, this batch of products shall be decided as
unqualified.
7 Logo, label, packaging and storage
7.1 Logo and label
Package or label shall be marked with type, quality, manufacturing organization, origin,
adopted standard number, gathering date, and expiration date. Logo and label shall
comply with the provisions of GB 7718.
7.2 Package
ADOPT bulk-packaging or container-packaging. Packaging container (basket, bag, box
etc.) shall be clean; airy; firm; and free of pollution, peculiar smell, and mildew.
7.3 Storage
Products shall be stored in shady, airy, and clean place away from heat source. It shall be
prevented from sun, rain, frost and harmful substances pollution.
