3.1
Adaptive front-lighting system; AFS
A lighting device, which provides light beams with different characteristics; can
automatically adapt to the needs of low beam and high beam (if used) under different
conditions of use; realizes the basic functions described in 5.3.1.1.The system
consists of "system controls" and one or more "input and operating devices" (if
configured), as well as mounting units on the left and right sides of the vehicle.
3.2
Class of a passing beam
The low beam type, which is set to achieve different road lighting needs.
3.3
Mode
A front-lighting function provided by the system, which is a beam within the scope
of 5.3.2 and 5.3.3, can EITHER be a low beam of a certain class OR be a high beam,
according to the manufacturer's design requirements, to suit the specific lighting
needs of different vehicles and different road conditions.
3.3.1
Bending mode
A front-lighting mode, which is designed for detours, continuous detours or
intersections. It can meet specific photometric conditions; its illuminance can be
shifted laterally or equivalently changed, to obtain the same lighting effect.
3.5
Installation unit
A non-removable housing (lamp body), which contains one or more lighting units.
3.6
Left side
The sum of the lighting units, which are installed on the left side of the vehicle's
longitudinal symmetry plane, as relative to the vehicle's forward direction.
3.7
Right side
The sum of the lighting units, which are installed on the right side of the vehicle's
longitudinal symmetry plane, as relative to the vehicle's forward direction.
4 Different types of systems
Adaptive front-lighting systems differ in the following ways.
5 Requirements
5.1 General requirements
5.1.1 The system or its components can still meet the requirements of use AND meet
the requirements of this standard, even if they are subjected to vibration, under normal
conditions of use.
5.1.3 The system shall use light sources, which comply with GB 15766.1 and/or ECE
R37 and ECE R99, except for the use of LED modules. The light source used shall meet
the following requirements.
5.1.4 The system shall comply with the provisions of A.2 and A.3.
5.1.5 If the optical lens of the system is made of plastic material, it shall also comply
with the provisions of Appendix B.
5.1.6 For any mechanical, electro-mechanical or other device, which is combined with
the lighting unit and used to control beam conversion, on a system or its components as
designed to be switchable between high beam and low beam, its structure shall meet
the following requirements.
5.1.7 The designed system can provide a failure signal, when a light source and/or an
LED module fails. The installation of the failure signal indicator shall comply with the
requirements of E.2.7.5.2.
5.3 Photometric performance
5.3.1 General provisions
5.3.3.
5.3.1.4 Photometric measurements shall be carried out, as described by the
manufacturer, as follows.
5.3.2 Photometric requirements for low beam
5.3.2.1 Before the start of the test, set the system to a neutral state AND emit a class C
(basic) low beam.
5.3.4 Other photometric requirements
5.3.4.1 For a system or its components, which are equipped with one or more adjustable
lighting units, shall meet the requirements of 5.3.2 and 5.3.3, at each installation
position (dimming range), as shown in a) and b) below.
5.3.4.2 For a system or its components, which are equipped with one or more adjustable
lighting units, shall meet the following conditions.
6 Installation requirements
The installation of the system shall comply with the provisions of Appendix E.
7 Test methods
7.1 General requirements for testing
7.1.1 The test darkroom, devices, equipment shall comply with the provisions of GB
4599-2007.
7.1.2 The voltage and test luminous flux, during the photometric test, shall meet the
following requirements.
7.1.3 The test sequence shall be in accordance with Appendix F.
7.2 Photometric measurement
7.2.1 General requirements for photometric measurement
7.2.1.4 The photometric measurement distance is 25 m; the measured illuminance value
or light intensity value is perpendicular to the measurement direction.
7.2.1.5 The angle coordinates are determined, according to the specified spherical
coordinates (angle unit. degrees), which is equivalent to that the goniometer has a
horizontal axis (with a certain elevation angle) fixed to the ground, AND another
movable (rotation) axis perpendicular to the horizontal fixed axis.
7.2.1.9 The lighting units of the system shall be measured one by one. However, two or
more lighting units of one installation unit can be measured, at the same time, provided
that -- they use the same type of light source AND have their own input power supply
(power supply can be controlled or uncontrolled); the dimensions and positions are such
that the luminous surface of these lighting units is completely contained within a
rectangle, which has a horizontal extension of not more than 300 mm and a vertical
extension of not more than 150 mm; the manufacturer specifies a common reference
center.
7.2.2.2 When a replaceable gas discharge light source is used, use the standard gas
discharge light source, which is specified in GB 15766.1 or ECE R99; the photometric
measurement shall be carried out, after at least 15 cycles of aging. If at least one
standard light source is used in the measurement, AND its photometric performance
meets the corresponding requirements of this standard, THEN, the system or its
components are considered to meet the requirements. The luminous flux of the gas
discharge light source can be different from the target value, which is specified in GB
15766.1 or ECE R99.At this time, the measured photometric value shall be corrected
in time; the correction factor is 0.7.
7.2.3 Measurement of bending mode
When the system or its components provide a bending mode, the requirements of 5.3.2
and/or 5.3.3 apply to all lighting states of the system or its components, under various
turning radii of the vehicle. The following procedures shall be followed, for the
detection of high and low beam in the bending mode of the curve.
7.2.4 Measurement test for functional units of AFS system or its components
equipped with LED modules
7.2.4.1 All specimens shall be tested, in accordance with 7.2.4.4.
7.2.4.2 The measurement environment of optoelectronic properties shall comply with
the provisions in 6.1 of GB 25991-2010.
7.2.4.3 Before the test, the LED module shall be subjected to 15 h LED light source
aging; then cooled to room temperature.
7.2.4.4 The test shall meet the following requirements.
8 Inspection rules
8.1 Determination of system type
The determination of the system type shall be in accordance with the provisions of
Chapter 4.
8.2 Compliance with type inspection and production consistency
The system shall be subject to type inspection and production consistency inspection.
If the corresponding provisions of 8.3 or 8.4 are met, the system is considered to have
passed the type inspection or consistency inspection.
8.3 Type inspection
8.3.2 Each system sample shall comply with the provisions of Chapters 5 and 6.
8.3.3 The system samples shall comply with the requirements of the photometric
stability test, in Appendix A. If LED modules are used, the corresponding functional
units of the system shall also meet the requirements of temperature stability,
chromaticity stability, target luminous flux, in Appendix A.
8.3.4 For the system samples, which use plastic photometric lens, shall also meet the
requirements of Appendix B plastic photometric lens system.
8.4 Production consistency inspection
8.4.1 For products that have passed the type inspection, samples randomly selected
from batches of products are used to determine the consistency of their production.
Samples with obvious appearance defects will not be considered.
