Foreword
This Standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T
1.1-2009.
This Standard replaces GB/T 2977-2008 Designation, dimensions, inflation
pressure and load capacity for truck tyres. Compared with GB/T 2977-2008,
the main technical modifications are as follows.
- adjusted the size, load, air pressure, rim allowed to use and valve
model and other data of some tyre specifications (see Table 2, Table 6,
Table 8 ~ Table 11, Table 20, Table 26);
- added some specifications for some types of tyres (see Table 4, Table 5,
Table 8 ~ Table 11, Table 17, Table 18, Table 22, Table 23, Table 2, Table
26, Table 27);
- added levels to some specifications (see Table 2, Table 4, Table 5,
Table 8 ~ Table 10, Table 17, Table 18, Table 22, Table 23, Table 25,
Table 27);
- added ultra-light truck general section radial tyre (see Table 3);
- added light truck metric radial tyre (80 series, 55 series, 50 series, 45
series, 40 series, 35 series, 5° rim) (see Table 7, Table 12 ~ Table 16);
- added truck metric radial tyres (80~95 series, 5° rim) (see Table 24);
- added truck metric radial tyres (60 series, 15° rim) (see Table 29);
- added truck metric radial tyres (45~55 series, 15° rim) (see Table 30);
- added multipurpose truck radial tyres (70~80 series, 5° rim) (see Table
31);
- added new developed specifications not included, which can refer to the
note of "China Tyre Rim Valve Standard Yearbook" (see Table 1, Table 3,
Table 17 ~ Table 19, Table 22, Table 21, Table 28, Table 31);
- added the instructions on wheels used by tubeless light truck tyres and
corresponding valves (see Table 1, Table 3);
- added twin load and minimum twin spacing of ST metric tyres specially
used by highway trailer (see Table 18);
Size designation, dimensions, inflation
pressure and load capacity for truck tyres
1 Scope
This Standard specifies the expression method for truck tyre specification,
tyre specification, size, pressure and load.
This Standard is applicable to inflatable tyre for new truck.
2 Normative references
The following referenced documents are indispensable for the application of
this document. For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For
undated references, the latest edition of the referenced document (including
any amendments) applies.

judgement of limiting values
3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions defined in GB/T
6326 apply.
4 Expression method for tyre specification
4.1 Miniature, light truck tyres

Annex D
(Normative)
Calculation and rounding-off rules for new tyre maximum and minimum
outer edge sizes
D.1 Maximum, minimum total width of new tyre
The maximum and minimum total widths of truck tyre shall be calculated
according to the equations specified in Table 1 ~ Table 33. The calculated
results shall be rounded off to the nearest millimeter integer according to the
provisions of GB/T 8170.
D.2 Maximum, minimum outer diameters of new tyre
For the maximum, minimum outer diameters of new tyre, it shall firstly round
off the calculated results of new tyre’s design section height to the nearest
millimeter integer according to the provisions of GB/T 8170. Then round off
the calculated results of “new tyre’s design section height × coefficient” to the
nearest millimeter integer. Calculate according to the equations specified in
Table 1 ~ Table 33.
New tyre’s design section height = (new tyre design outer diameter − rim
nominal diameter) / 2
Rim nominal diameter shall comply with the provisions of GB/T 6326.
