Rotation test of grinding wheel strength
1 Scope
This standard specifies the rotation test method of the grinding wheel strength.
This standard applies to grinding wheels with various bonding agents and other
abrasive tools that need to be subject to rotation test.
2 Test equipment
2.1 The rotation test is carried out on a special rotation testing machine
according to the diameter, quality and maximum working speed of the grinding
wheel.
2.2 The spindle speed error of the rotation testing machine shall not be more
than 3%.
2.3 The radial runout of the main shaft of the rotation testing machine is not
more than 0.07 mm. The measurement location is the middle of the mandrel.
2.4 The rotation test machine shall be equipped with a time relay, to ensure that
when the spindle speed reaches the test speed, the speed will be reduced after
maintaining a specified period of time.
2.5 The noise level of the rotation testing machine shall not exceed 85 dB(A) at
no load.
2.6 The protective cover of the rotation testing machine shall be firm and safe.
2.7 The rotation testing machine shall be inspected regularly.
3 Test conditions and methods
3.1 The rotation test shall be carried out according to the following method at
the maximum working speed as marked on the grinding wheel.
For grinding wheels with a maximum working speed of less than or equal to 50
m/s, the rotation test is performed at 1.6 times the maximum working speed;
after reaching to the maximum speed, it is maintained for 30 s.
For grinding wheels with a maximum working speed greater than 50 m/s, the
rotation test is performed at 1.5 times the maximum working speed; after
reaching to the maximum speed, it is maintained for 30 s.
Note: If there are other provisions for the rotation test method in the product
standard, the product standard shall be implemented.
3.2 It is allowed to install multiple grinding wheels on the main shaft of the
rotation testing machine at the same time; different grinding wheels shall be
separated by a partition. The outer diameter of the partition and the width of the
pressing surface are the same as the chuck.
3.3 The grinding wheel as installed on the main shaft of the rotation testing
machine shall be fastened by chucks at both ends.
3.4 When the hole diameter of the grinding wheel is larger than the outer
diameter of the main shaft of the testing machine, a shaft sleeve is allowed.
3.5 Grinding wheel chuck
3.5.1 The shape and dimensions of the grinding wheel chuck and the partition
are as shown in Appendix A (Supplementary).
3.5.2 For the grinding wheel whose outer diameter and the diameter are not
listed in Appendix A (Supplementary), the outer diameter of the chuck shall
conform to formula (1)
Where:
Df - Outer diameter of chuck, mm;
D - Outer diameter of grinding wheel, mm;
H - Aperture of grinding wheel, mm.
3.5.3 The outer diameter of the cymbal-shaped grinding wheel chuck shall
conform to formula (2); the other dimensions shall be in accordance with
Appendix A, Table A1.
Where:
Df - Outer diameter of chuck, mm;
D1 - The inner bottom diameter of grinding wheel, mm.
