This document was drafted in accordance with the rules provided in GB/T 1.1-2020 Directives for Standardization - Part 1.Rules for the Structure and Drafting of Standardizing Documents. This document serves as a replacement for GB/T 20290-2016 Electric Dishwashers for Household Use - Methods for Measuring the Performance. In comparison with GB/T 20290- 2016, apart from structural adjustments and editorial modifications, the main technical changes are as follows. ---The definition of dishwasher is modified (see 3.1.1; 3.1 of Version 2016); This document modifies and adopts IEC 60436.2020 Electric Dishwashers for Household Use - Methods for Measuring the Performance. In comparison with IEC 60436.2020, the following structural adjustments are made. ---3.1.12 “Chinese standard tableware” is added, and 3.1.13 ~ 3.1.38 correspond to 3.1.12 ~ 3.1.37 of IEC 60436.2020; ---The Chinese tableware loading diagram for I.5 reference machine is added. 1 Scope

This document specifies the main performance characteristics of electric dishwashers for household and similar use and describes standard methods for testing these characteristics. This document applies to electric dishwashers for household and similar use, using hot and / or cold water.

The contents of the following documents constitute indispensable clauses of this document through the normative references in the text. In terms of references with a specified date, only versions with a specified date are applicable to this document. In terms of references without a specified date, the latest version (including all the modifications) is applicable to this document. 3 Terms, Definitions and Symbols

Series of operations which are pre-defined within the dishwasher and which are declared as suitable for specified levels of soil and / or type of load and together form a complete cycle.

4 Test Items

The standard methods for measuring performance characteristics are determined as follows.

5 General Conditions for Testing

Before conducting a performance test on a new dishwasher, run the dishwasher for at least 3 cycles using a wash programme suitable for normal or heavily soiled dishes, using a standard detergent (see 5.7) and a standard rinse aid (see 5.8) to remove manufacturing residues; this process can be used with a clean load or no load.

6 Combined Cleaning Performance and Drying Performance Test Runs

In accordance with the rated capacity of the test machine specified in Appendix A, the test load shall include a specific quantity of each type of tableware. The condition of the tableware shall be as described in Appendix A.

7 Combined Evaluation of Cleaning and Drying performance

Partial or complete wet edges (not in the form of droplets or streams) around the soils that adhere to the surface of the tableware shall not be counted as a penalty in the dryness evaluation. If there is any soil in the residual water in the cavities (for example, bowls or teacups), the cleaning performance of the tableware shall be evaluated during the drying performance evaluation.

8 Power Consumption, Water Consumption and Programme Time

This Chapter specifies how to measure and evaluate the power consumption of a dishwasher. If external hot water is used, then, the calculation includes the power consumption of hot water, the water consumption of the dishwasher and the time taken to complete a specific cycle used to measure the cleaning and drying performance.
