This standard replaces GB/T 17570-1998 "General specification for optical fiber fusion splicer", major technical changes compared with GB/T 17570-1998
as follows.
--- Revised the scope of application of the standard (see Chapter 1, Chapter 1 of the.1998 edition);
--- Added some normative references (see Chapter 2);
--- Revised the terms and definitions of "multimode fiber, standard single mode fiber, special fiber" (see 3.1, 3.2, 3.7,.1998 version 3.2,
3.1, 3.3);
--- Added "dispersion-shifted fiber, cut-off wavelength shift fiber, non-zero dispersion-shifted fiber, bend-insensitive fiber, ribbon fiber, back
Terms and definitions for wave loss, splice time, heating time, fiber image magnification, tensile test, electrode life and end angle

1 Scope
This standard specifies the terms and definitions of fiber fusion splicers, product classification, requirements, test methods, quality inspection rules and signs, packaging, and transportation.
Requirements for transportation and storage.
This standard is applicable to optical fiber fusion splicers (hereinafter referred to as fusion splicers) for welding quartz glass fibers.
