Foreword
This document was drafted in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020
Directives for standardization - Part 1.Rules for the structure and drafting of
standardizing documents.
This document replaces GB/T 15233-2008 Packaging - Unit load size. Compared with
GB/T 15233-2008, in addition to structural adjustments and editorial changes, the main
technical changes are as follows.
a) The term and definition of "distribution of goods" have been deleted (see 3.1
of the 2008 edition);
b) The requirements for nominal dimensions have been added (see 5.1);
c) The maximum deviation requirements have been changed (see 5.2 and
Appendix A; see Table 1 of the 2008 edition).
This document is modified in relation to ISO 3676.2012 Packaging - Complete, filled
transport packages and unit loads - Unit load dimensions.
The technical differences between this document and ISO 3676.2012 and their reasons
are as follows.
-- ISO 21067 has been replaced with the normative reference GB/T 4122.1 to adapt
to technical requirements in China (see Chapter 3; see Chapter 3 of ISO
3676.2012);
-- The terms and definitions of "distribution of goods", "system", "modular system"
and "module" have been deleted (see 3.1, 3.2, 3.3 and 3.5 of ISO 3676.2012).
These terms are not mentioned in this document or do not appear frequently
enough to meet the requirements for them to be used as terms;
-- The unit load dimensions "1200 mm×800 mm" and "1219 mm×1016 mm" have
been deleted to be consistent with GB/T 2934 (see 4.2 and 4.4 of ISO
3676.2012);
-- The normative reference GB/T 5338.1 replaces ISO 1496-1, and GB 1589
replaces EN 284, EN 452, CEN/TS 13853 and CEN/TS 14993 (see 5.2; see 5.2
of ISO 3676.2012) to adapt to technical requirements in China;
-- Series 2 container dimensions have been added as the basis for determining the
maximum dimensions of unit load (see 5.2) to adapt to technical requirements
in China.
Packaging - Unit load dimensions
1 Scope
This document specifies the plan dimensions and dimensional deviations of unit load
during the cargo circulation process.
This document applies to unit loads transported by road, rail and water.
2 Normative references
The provisions of the following documents constitute the essential clauses of this
document through normative references in this text. Among them, for any dated
reference, only the version corresponding to that date applies to this document; for any
undated reference, the latest version (including all amendments) applies to this
document.

3 Terms and definitions
The terms and definitions defined in GB/T 4122.1 and the following apply to this
document.
3.1 unit load
In order to facilitate loading and unloading, transportation, stacking and storage, a
group of goods or packages is assembled together in one or more ways to form an
integral unit.
NOTE. A single large cargo is also considered a unit load.
3.2 plan dimensions
The dimensions of a rectangle formed by four mutually and perpendicularly intersecting
vertical planes on a horizontal plane, and the four vertical planes can enclose the unit
load.
4 Plane dimensions
4.1 Dimensions. 1200 mm×1000 mm
The preferred unit load plane dimensions shall be 1200 mm×1000 mm.
NOTE. The unit load dimensions are derived from the basic modular dimensions of 600 mm×400 mm,
and it is one of the components of the circulation system.
4.2 Dimensions. 1100 mm×1100 mm
The plane dimensions of the unit load can be 1100 mm×1100 mm.
5 Dimensional deviation
5.1 Nominal dimensions
The plane dimensions of a unit load described in 4.1 and 4.2 are nominal dimensions.
5.2 Maximum dimensions
The maximum dimensions of a unit load shall be determined based on the container
widths specified in GB/T 5338.1 and GB/T 35201, and the widths of trucks and trailers
specified in GB 1589.Appendix A provides examples for determining the maximum
dimensions of a unit load.
