3 Terms and Definitions
The following terms and definitions are applicable to this document.
3.1 hydrogen permeation test
A test method that evaluates the fish scaling resistance of steel sheet for vitreous enameling by
generating atomic hydrogen on one side of the cold rolled steel sheet, allowing it to permeate
through the steel sheet to the other side and precipitate as hydrogen gas, and through the time
required for the hydrogen gas to stabilize.
4 Classification and Designation Representation Method
4.1 Classification
4.1.1 The classification and codes of steel sheet and strip by drawing grades are as specified in
Table 1.
Table 1 -- Classification and Codes by Drawing Grades
Drawing Grades Codes
For general purposes 01
For drawing 03
For deep drawing 04
For extra deep drawing 05
For super deep drawing 06
For ultra deep drawing 07
4.1.2 The classification and codes of steel sheet and strip by surface quality level are as specified
in Table 2.
Table 2 -- Classification and Codes by Surface Quality
Surface Quality Level Codes
Relatively advanced surface FB
Advanced surface FC
Super advanced surface FD
4.1.3 The classification and codes of steel sheet and strip by surface texture are as specified in
Table 3.
4.1.4 The classification and codes of steel sheet and strip by edge state are as specified in Table
4.
4.2 Designation Representation Method
The designation of steel sheet and strip consists of four parts. the first part is the letter “D”,
representing cold-formed steel sheet and strip; the second part is the letter “C”, representing
that the rolling condition is cold-rolled; the third part is a two-digit serial number, representing
the drawing grade code, i.e., 01, 03, 04, 05, 06, 07; the fourth part is the enamel processing type
code, with the letters “EK” indicating suitability for conventional enameling processes, and the
letters “ED” indicating suitability for direct one-time enameling processes and enameling
processes with special requirements for anti-dent properties, as well as conventional enameling
processes.
EXAMPLE 1.DC01EK
DC---“D” represents cold-formed steel sheet and strip, and “C” represents that the rolling condition
is cold-rolled;
01---represents drawing grade code 01;
EK---indicates suitability for conventional enameling processes.
EXAMPLE 2.DC04ED
DC---“D” represents cold-formed steel sheet and strip, and “C” represents that the rolling condition
is cold-rolled;
04---represents drawing grade code 04;
ED---indicates suitability for direct one-time enameling processes and enameling processes with
special requirements for anti-dent properties, as well as conventional enameling processes.
